This is a Dell OEM Intel X710 and mine required a firmware update to link
Card looks good like new even with a 2017 build date sticker. Came with low profile bracket installed, I needed the normal bracket which it included, but only one of the holes lines up, which is no big deal for home lab setup it still mounts securely once in the board. I installed into an Asus Workstation C246M Pro board but it would not link to my FortiSwitch with two known good SFP's and known good MMF patch. Ran the Dell FW updater (requires Server 2019 or higher) and it took my non-linking v17 firmware card to v22 firmware in about 4 minutes, and now it links right up and flies! I've seen in excess of 8.2Gbps sustained throughput in Hyper-V / Veaam backup jobs. Good to go no complaints! If you are buying this kind of item it helps if you know what you are doing already is my only advice... 😎

Does exactly what it's supposed to do
Flawless 10-gigabit Ethernet experience. Works with every SFP+ module I've thrown at it. Gold standard converged network adapter.

No win home drivers, use server ed binary
Working at 10gig full duplex in my win 10 home pc, Working at 10gig full duplex in my truenas box I could not locate win 10 drivers, So i unpacked the installer from win server edition, and used the binary to install directly, It totally works. I get an occasional network drop and have to reboot both machines, So 4 start instead of 5

Working perfectly!
Using two of these in two identical servers for a vSphere cluster. They seem to work great and are picked up natively in 7.0 and 8.0 without special drivers. Firmware update using Intel's tool works perfectly too.

Works out of the box with VMware ESXi
Bought these to replace some Mellanox Connect-X3 NICs that are no longer supported with vSphere 8. Out of the box support with these adapters which are Intel-branded. I bought four of them for my home vSphere lab hosts and all four were fully functional out of the box using the i40en driver.

so I'm 100% satisfied.
Bought this when I discovered that my Dell R210 II wasn't working with the Chelsio T520-CR - the system wouldn't boot with that card. So I bought this and it was recognized and able to be configured in pfsense / opnsense without any additional steps. I have not been able to fully test the performance, but was able to achieve 2Gbit both ways with ease, so I'm 100% satisfied.

This is a Dell branded version of the Intel X710-DA2
But it does what I want it to do, and there is no problem with running it in a ESXi 8.x lab server.

I can't find real Intel, only Dell OEM version (DIFFERENT!)
I'm frustrated that I cannot find a vendor selling the real Intel and instead are selling the DELL OEM variation, which is not compatible with official Intel firmware (must use Dell firmware) nor the official Intel drivers (sometimes only 1 port works depending on the OS). Also, Synology specifically warns to watch out and NOT use the Dell OEM version in their release notes as Dell OEM is not supported by Synology. I had to return the one sent to me which was Dell OEM......
