Worth the trouble for the taste, these are good seeds.
We purchased these seeds at the end of winter and used planting pucks and a seed warmer mat to grow them indoors until the time was right in the spring to transplant them. They were tiny plants for months, before and after slowly transitioning them first to a covered porch and then to our raised bed gardens. Eventually, they’ve grown to be roughly 2 feet tall and at least 16” wide. Both the green and red Shiso leaves taste delicious when we use them for our culinary needs. They take quite some care for the first couple months, but once established, they only require sun and water. They’ve thrived in our 100+ degree Texas summer. I’ll definitely grow them again.

These are germinating machines!!!
After four days, I had strong little seedlings pop up (see photo 1). Within 10 days, they had their baby leaves and were just taking off like crazy. WOW! The germination rate was killer.... Much better than my fescue mounds, black-eyed Susans, or Muhl grass. Just about every borage pod had a plant growing inside it. I kept them in the bathroom at 65 degrees, with no heat mat, and kept them relatively moistened, giving them a good squirt every day. I did not pre-soak my seeds in water before planting.

None of Them Grew
I've grown this plant now and again over the years, but this is the first time nothing grew.

Fresh Mint for Days!
I recently bought the Seed Needs Mint Seed Packet Collection, which includes both Peppermint and Spearmint, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The packets came with a generous amount of seeds and detailed sowing instructions that made planting a breeze. The beautiful illustrations on the packets were a nice touch and added to the excitement of growing my own mint. Both varieties sprouted quickly, and the plants are thriving in my garden. The peppermint and spearmint have grown to about 2 feet tall, with vibrant green leaves and lovely red stems. The fresh mint scent is incredible and fills the air around my garden. I've already started using the mint leaves in teas and homemade skincare products, and the flavor and fragrance are fantastic. Knowing that these seeds are Non-GMO and come from open-pollinated plants makes it even better. If you're looking to grow your own mint, I highly recommend this collection!
