You need this for germinating your seeds and getting your plants off to a great start!
This is a superior product, I could smell the richness of the soil before I even opened the bag. The mix is, like others say, a bit hydrophobic, meaning it takes some time to begin absorbing. . I hastened this process by using hot tap water. First dribble some water on top of the seed tray to soak the top surface. Then, with a measured 6 cups of hot water, lift a corner of the tray and gently pour the entire contents in. Make sure the tray is level, if not, some parts will stay dry. Wait 30 minutes, then check under the pots to make sure all the water has been absorbed. Check the soil in either end to be sure the soil is well moistened. Then you may commence planting your seeds. Additional hints: I added a tablespoon of Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 to the 6 cups of water. This is available at Walmart, and is worth every dime you pay for it. Just a little goes a long way, that large bottle will last you a long time, be sure you read ALL the directions first. A heat mat and grow lights will increase your chances of seed germination by 80%. I'm looking forward to a bumper crop of hot peppers this year!

Best seed starting medium
This is the best seed starting medium! I have tried a few different types the past few years, and this is by far the best. I have close to 100% seed germination rates. I haven't had any issues with mold or insects. My seedlings from Miracle-Gro seed starting mix are stronger than the ones grown with other mediums and I can use the same containers and potting medium for germinating and for my seedlings. I've tried mixing this with coconut coir to stretch it out a little and get more use out of it- don't do that! When I mix with coconut coir the seedlings are weaker, yellow, and more susceptible to damping off. This potting mix has all the nutrients your seedlings need, and coconut coir lacks the nnutrients. Coconut coir might work for germination, but you'll need to immediately move your seedlings to a medium with more nutrients and substance like this miracle-gro seed starting mix. Save yourself time and just use the miracle-gro from the start. It's worth it!

Great mix once you figure out the secret to using it.
I love container gardening and have done it for over a decade. I have tried so many seed starting mixes over the years, and this one gives me the best results. Yes, there are some little sticks and mulch pieces, but nothing bigger than an inch or so, and they are easily picked out. This mix is very fluffy, almost too fluffy until I learned the secret to using it. You wet the mix before putting it in the pot/tray/eggshell/whatever, then make your hole and add your seeds. If you put it in dry and then try to water it, the water sits on top, the seeds start floating, you get frustrated and want to give up on the whole thing. Since switching to the wet mix method, almost everything we plant grows. Later in the season, when it's time to move seedlings to bigger pots, I mix any leftovers I have with miracle-gro garden soil, some dirt from last years pots, and a bit of sand. This makes the perfect mega mix for all my veggies. I love this stuff and will continue buying it for years to come. Note: Like many people, I rely heavily on Amazon reviews before making almost any purchase, online or in brick-and-mortar stores. I am always honest with my reviews. If I love something, I shout it from the rooftops. And if I hate it, I have no problem telling you that too. If you found this review helpful, please click the button below :-)

my go to potting soil
in my opinion this one is overall a better potting soil for most plants rather than the regular one or the moisture control one. just don’t pack it too tight since it’s such a fine texture

Nice size for storage
Im an urban gardener with an average size lot; A big bag was too much but 3 smaller bags are better so I can store till I need them. I generally use for flower seeds from small pansies to sunflowers and it does the job. I use it in the seed starter and it doesnt dry out like the cheap ones. Put a bunch in a bucket and over saturate it to start. Light weight for this old lady.
