I wasn't sure if the transition to this SSD drive would work out, but It did! My old IPOD 30GB is back to jammin' again. Easy to install and came with some basic tools.

This 128GB SSD for iPod Classic 6th 7th iPod Video 5Gen 5.5th Replace HS081HA MK8010GAH MK8022GAA MK1634GAL MK1231GAL ZIF CE Solid State Drive (128GB) is the perfect solution to a dead or dying iPod Classic.. While you can't get the original iPod hard drives anymore, this one is much better. The storage is 4x the capacity of my old 30gb hard drive. Less power consumption, and way less expensive than buying a refurbished one that someone else rebuilt.. It was extremely easy to install. The most difficult part was actually getting the iPod open. I watched YouTube videos to figure that part out. Once the iPod was open, it took 5 minutes to remove the old hard drive and replace it with this one. I recommend getting "side tweezers" to connect the cables. I also recommend replacing the battery while you have everything open. Once everything was reconnected, everything fit back together without a hitch. Literally, 30 seconds. Now my 2006 iPod Classic is not only like new again, it weighs less, and runs longer than before. It wouldn't surprise me if it runs for another 20 years. If you're like me, and really appreciate the old iPods, but are having problems with them, I highly recommend you get this hard drive replacement. They come in different storage capacities, as well.

It works, but geez it took a while for iTunes to recognize it. (iPod 5.5 Gen) The included ribbons are finicky, it comes with two so if one doesn't work try other. I have a Zif to PC Adapter, but it didn't fit it, :/ so I couldn't format it manually. . .. But I got it to work. I took off a star because in my opinion, it should come pre-formatted so it is more plug and play. Also I had better luck when i laid the ssd flat when restoring, and then you can flip and bend it. anyway, cool. glad it eventually work. . . Also you'll know if it is getting power when you the SSD's red LED light up on the back. We'll see how long it lasts.

Worked great and now my iPod doesn’t skip or mess up any more.

The product was shipped in 2 days. Well packages, bubble wrapped and in a box (no instruction). Just need to check the orientation for the board on the Amazon page since it can go two ways. I'm glad it came with spare ribbon since the one attached to SSD didn't work. I tried the ribbon from the original drive but one end was too short so it wouldn't lock in. So lastly I tried the spare and BINGO! I must have the battery cable dozen times before i got things to work. Everything runs fast now, updating the drive to copying 128 GB worth of mp3. This was a fun project! Oh I wish i came with new paddings. I removed some of the thin pads from the old drive and used a double sided tape and placed them on both side of the ssd board since its much thinner than the old drive.

Received first item with 2 day shipping but unfortunately was defective out of the box. Great seller gave me some troubleshooting to try but still would not complete a system restore with iTunes. Sent the defective part back and got a replacement, worked perfectly and so far haven't had any issues.
