Yes, both ends of the binoculars have protective covers and the binoculars have a strap. Binoculars come with a hard case which also has a strap.

408 by 42 or 10 by 42 which one are better

From my observation they are about equal optically. Which is better depends on the user. The 10x optics are on the edge of what I can hold steady. So I picked the 8x which I can hold steady even when I'm a bit tired. The 8x are a little brighter which helps a little during dawn or dusk. The extra power will sometimes help identify objects at distance. The very best thing you can do is try them side by side and make decision about your personal decision. When I was picking I also did side by side comparisons with optics that were considered a step up and a step down. You may decide that the lower price are a better value for you or that a step up is worth the extra money.

Are these as good as quality as the Viper HD?

No they aren't... great pair of binoculars but if you pick up both pair and look out to even 100 yards you can tell the difference! However unless you wanna put down double the money these are great!

What is the difference between this model (referred to as d205) and the db205 offered on amazon and other sites for around the same price?

I actually am not sure. I can tell you however I bought this set and don't regret it one bit! These binos are super crisp and bright and the harness is not bad at all.
