Great companion for Canon Rebel T5i
We take photos of our merchandise at the office. For efficiency's sake, I needed a way to have my Canon Rebel T5i automatically transfer all the photos it takes over the office's internal network to a PC. I tried the Mobo Eye-Fi and the Toshiba FlashAir, but they were both awful. After those disheartening experiences, I realized I was going to have to shell out for the rather expensive CamRanger. A little research led me to CamFi, which costs half as much as of this writing. I'm glad I took a chance on it because it worked out almost perfectly. The whole wireless thing was still kind of a bust, but luckily the CamFi also has an Ethernet port! After installing the CamFi software on a Windows 7 PC, connecting the CamFi to our switch via Ethernet, and doing a little mild configuration (static IP and so forth), I finally got the camera to copy all its photos over to a PC as JPEGs with the click of a button. It would have been nice for the wireless option to work, but we are probably getting better speed and responsiveness over the wire anyway. I'm very happy with this solution.

Works great but there are some things to understand before first use
The first thing to do to get started is download an app from Google or Apple or other for the CamFi. Install the App. Next turn your CamFi Unit on and wait for the network light to stay on. Disconnect your pc, or phone, or Ipad from your local network and connect to the CAM NETWORK. Start the CAMFi app on your device. It will start and upgrade your firmware. Don't connect camera to CAMFi during firmware update. Stop the app. Next use your cable and connect camera to the CamFi. You will again need to connect to the CamFi Network in Network settings on your device; disconnecting from you normal network. Start the app on your device. Your camera should be turned on. You should see your camera settings on the app now. If you want to use the CamFi with your normal network, go to Settings / Connection and change it there. You must first get it all working with the CamFi Network before you change and save the network in the app on your device. I am personally using a Nikon D850 with my Windows 10 PC. I have also used it with my Android phone. No connection issues at all. I did not need to enable the WIFI settings on the D850. I did not need to change any settings on my camera.

It's a failure out of the box (with 1 update)
The description says compatible with Canon 5DS, but the USB cord isn't USB3 which the 5DS requires. I found another cord and got it to connect fairly easily once I remember to take the Canon wifi card out of the card slot. Took a couple of shots, great, they showed up on my iPad as thumbnails. I was able to go full screen and then it crashed. Tried again, and again, and again and it crashed every time. I've emailed cs about my experience and the lack of a good cord and then a 2nd email about the app crashing my iPad, which is admittedly an iPad V2. They haven't responded yet so we'll see what happens. I can definitely see this getting packed up and returned sooner than later. UPDATE: After sending their support email 3 messages, saying I needed a reply ASAP, I finally got a response 2 days later. Turns out that though they didn't tell me which iPads their system was compatible with, that mine apparently didn't have enough memory to work with CamFi. They expect you to supply your own USB3 cord to go from the CamFi to the 5DS, without saying that. Finally they don't tell you that when you use it with at least a MacBook Pro that the only view is whatever view you get with a full screen, there is no magnification of the preview image to check critical focus. This will be returned first chance I get to box it up and I'll try someone else's system.

Great way to connect your camera to your phone!
This thing is great! I have been wanting a way to connect my Canon 5D Mark II to my iphone and came across this. Pretty easy to set up though sometimes you may have to turn off your camera and turn it back on if the wifi doesn't connect. What's greatest about this, is that you can shoot in live mode from the phone and change all your settings like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO right there without even touching the camera! It does have a slight lag in live mode, but if you are shooting photos like this, it really isn't that much of an issue. Such a great buy!

I set it up for her and she was stoked
I bought this for my wife couple years ago. She was afraid to use it for the first year but one day I set it up for her and she was stoked. Being able to see your pictures instantly is great! Software appeared to be easy enough to use once you follow the included literature. Gave the 4 stars for the following reason but still would recommend. Don't like the way it attaches and hangs from the camera. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0163L89LG/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_56

Back to wired tethering
Wanted to love this and when it works, it is a good product but it consistently lags and disconnects where you have to shut the program down and start it up again. It really messes with the flow of a shoot when it does this and it does it regularly. Every 5 shots or so. Before anyone comments about the issues, I am using a brand new HP Spectre 360 SSD laptop which is super fast and runs flawlessly and I am shooting approximately 1 image every 10-20 seconds which is more than slow enough to transfer. Why can't there be a serious professional wireless option for tethering that isn't flawed in one way or another? Even the Camranger (with its ridiculously over priced price-range) does the same thing no matter which system, camera or laptop I have used it on.
