TerraSlate Waterproof Paper, 5 MIL 8.5” x 11”, Laser Printer & Copy Machine Compatible, Durable & Rain/Weather-Proof Copy Paper, White Paper (50 Sheets)

I used this to print out checklists and quick reference info for sailing in the Pacific Northwest, where it rains almost every day. I used a Xerox color laser printer and printed on both sides of each sheet. Every sheet came out perfectly. No jams, no melting, no curling, no running, no smearing. Vivid colors, clear text, even with small font sizes (6 point). As a test, I dunked one of them in water and held it there for tens of seconds, then pulled it out and tried to smudge the toner and tear the paper. The water just dripped off. No toner smudges whatsoever. Where I tried to tear the paper, it just sort of "dented" slightly. The one-star reviews (and some of the 3-star reviews) are from people who tried to use an inkjet, which the instructions clearly state is not supported. One person complained that the paper is not useful for painting ink on, which is clearly not the intended use case for this paper; it's meant for making waterproof durable laser printouts (or xerographic copies -- which I haven't tried). It's literally in the name of the product: "...Waterproof laser printer..." I wish Amazon provided a downvote button to indicate that those reviews are useless for assessing the utility of this product. Those reviews do serve to inform buyers to follow instructions though. Discovering this stuff makes me want to concoct more reasons to print waterproof documents. I'm curious to know how this compares with either Rite in the Rain paper (which is less expensive).

It printed great in my color laser printer, and it really is waterproof. Like, I literally soaked it in a bowl of water, and it still looked like new. It also is truly tear-resistant. I really couldn't quite tear it, although it was easy to cut with scissors. The only challenge I had was that I had intended to wrap it around a little dowel to make a flag, and it was too stiff to stay wrapped -- neither hot glue nor double stick tape would hold it even with a lot of creasing. So I had to change my plan to do the dowel through punched holes instead. Ha, I actually used Goo Gone to remove the tape residue after the dowel-wrapping failure, and the waterproof paper even held up to that! It's as thin as regular paper and it looks like nice glossy regular paper, but it definitely is stiffer than regular paper.

I was leaning to use the 7mil paper, but I wasn't sure how this would work for my needs. I decided to go with the 4 mil for experimenting and not waste more money if it didn't work out. 4 mil is quite sturdy, and 7 mil would be over kill. I can see how 10 mil is used for business cards. Anyways, so I'm getting tired of wasting or storing paper so I decided to go with a reuable note book. The idea was completely jacked from RocketBook. They said they used a synthetic paper, so I typed that in to Amazon, and TerraSlate came up. I got some of those FriXion ink pens from Pilot, and it works really well (you do have to wait a few seconds for the ink to dry, so it doesn't smear). The laser printed lined paper is water proof, and so it doesn't degrade with moist wiping. Saved myself about $20. I use the discbound notebooks (Arc/TUL/whatever), and I have to say I'm quite pleased. Keep in mind that you can use sharpies on these, and they will clean completely with alcohol, but it does strip the paper of its "paper-like coating", so it's just a plastic sheet. Also, dry erase markers behave the same as sharpies, I think that coating absorbs the ink. Haven't tried wet erase.

This is the best paper I have found for my field work. Others have various problems, including tearing and inability to write over erased areas. This paper is not perfect in the latter area either, so I have leaned to cross out errors and rewrite. One other problem: when wet, these sheets really stick together; I have resorted to hanging wet sheets on a clothesline to dry. Good points: it takes pencil well, and is quite strong when wet.

I bought this for an art project and it works perfectly. I'm a poetry student and for a final project we had to reimagine one of our own written works into something new, so I turned one of my essays on alcohol into a snow globe. TerraSlate was perfect for the job. I wanted the illusion of being "regular" printer paper inside a liquor bottle, as opposed to, say, lined paper from a waterproof notebook. I also love that you can print on it, rather than having to buy a waterproof pen and hand-write on it. Just make sure you use a laser or laserjet printer (aka Xerox machine style), NOT inkjet. My first idea for this project was cutting up laminated paper. But I realized the seal would likely break. TerraSlate was a much more elegant solution. I love that you can cut it and it is still waterproof. Over a month later and it's still holding up with no signs of deteriorating. It's readable, looks great when printed and cut, and the illusion is perfect. My classmates were fooled! Before they knew it was waterproof paper, they asked if somehow liquor was preserving the paper. The end result looks exactly how I wanted it, without having to compromise on aesthetic. The only issue is the price. It's not cheap. But there's nothing else like it, so I'm happy I found it!

My laser printer had some trouble with this paper. It jammed every time I tried to duplex print, and when I went to single pages about 1 in 5 curled a lot. I could smell burning plastic as well. This may just be a problem with my printer (a Canon laser printer), but the paper is a bit more flexible and prone to curling than I was expecting. Frixion pens will write on it (if you let the ink dry for a bit before touching it) and can then be wiped cleanly and easily off with a damp paper towel. or wet wipe, and it is really hard to tear, but it really wasn't very friendly to. my laser printer (I ended up feeding each sheet in by hand, no duplex, and still had about 10 percent jam.) This review is for the 4mm product, I may try 7mm to see if it curls and jams less.

I purchased this to make outdoor signs on a laser printer and was not disappointed, it functions much like paper but is weather resistant. Mileage may vary depending on how your printer's toner can take the sunshine. One caveat, don't choose "overhead transparency", at least with HP LaserJets, the toner doesn't transfer completely to the "paper" and creates repeat ghost images. I found I had best results choosing "HP Cover Matte 200g" as the paper type, looks just like printing on actual paper (other paper type settings might also work but the price per sheet discouraged experimentation).

Amazing paper but not A4

Very good quality product , they sustain laser printing pretty well and we used prints on a few dives.. impossible to tear

It's five-star worthy, but price is, well, up there soon four stars only.
