Rutherford Controls F2 Series Fire Rated Offset Centerline Latch Entry (Part #: F2164)

I've installed these everywhere and have only had one bad one come back after many years in service. They are pretty bulletproof and the hardware pack includes more than enough types shims, screws and accessories to use in just about any mortise lock application. This is much better replacement strike than the HES 1003/1006 style strike. The design is flat out better, it's more reliable, last longer, It's easier to install and looks much cleaner, no dumb trim ring needed. Don't forget to use the included filler plates for to engage the dead latch on your lock and install a latch protector in conjunction with every strike install that has an out swing door, especially on an exterior door.

The item functions as we expected and was sufficient to pass our fire inspection as well. Would definitely buy this again if needed.

Strong and attractive but with two major flaws for home installation: (1) THE KEEPER DOESN'T RELEASE if there is any pressure on it ... for example, if you have weather stripping on your door (as I do) and it exerts a bit of pressure on the keeper ... then the keeper will NOT release. What's the use of having an electronic door that doesn't release? RCI customer rep suggested I get a HES electric strike! (2) the keeper itself has about 3/8" of play so the front door rattles and never does feel secure. Maybe this is all ok in a commercial application with a door closer, but for a home installation - forget it!
