Precise tool
I needed to mount a shelf on the wall in the garage, however my old stud finder failed to track to a stud in the wall. After several unsuccessful attempts I decided to purchase a new stud finder and I selected the Tavool TH511 because it seemed like it had the most features for a good price and good review. It arrived quickly and the directions to use the stud finder were clear and easy to understand. Moreover, the stud finder itself was easy to use. The end result is that I was able to efficiently find the stud in my thick wall by selecting a proper tool sensitivity that provided good precision. It was pretty amazing and based on the price and functionality of the product, I would recommend it to others.

Studley Do-Right
I purchased this stud finder to replace my 40 year old Craftsman that totally failed in the middle of a job. Compared to my old finder, this is like comparing a Model T Ford to our new Rav 4. WOW!!! It is incredibly easy to use, very accurate and packed with features that I could only dream of in my younger house building days. I am 90 years old and needed to install a vertical safety bar in the bathroom. This finder will not only give you an accurate center line of the stud but also the edges. When mounting a Handicap safe grab bar, you need to know where the edges are so you can drill your pilot holes at an angle to insure that you are going into wood, not dry wall. Later in the day, our son, a commercial electrician, used it to mount a very heavy wood carving in the front foyer. He was amazed at how much better it was compared to his commercial grade unit. He liked the feature that you did not have to hold down any buttons after you calibrate this unit. I liked the very easy way to insert the 9 volt batter with out trying to pry off the usual dress snap with wires method. It took me a few minuted to learn how to turn off the unit but holding down the mode button for a few seconds took care of that bit of confusion. I did find that the 1" mode setting worked better on the drywall in our house. Our home is a factory built modular home with 6 inch walls so that may account for that setting. As a retired Bio Medical design engineer with an Honorary Doctorate, this unit is above and beyond all expectations and highly recommended.

Good quality, good price
I purchased the TH511 stud finder for a few DIY projects around the house, the main one being the need to hang a pegboard in my wife's craft room to store tools. She had a cheap stud finder already but we found it was unreliable. The TH511 has several modes and simple instructions for how to operate each. The tool can scan for wooden mount points at 1/2", 1", and 1 1/2". While I was able to generally scan at 1/2", I found I often had to switch back and forth between 1/2" and 1" to ensure accuracy. This may just be due to my house's construction. I did appreciate the tool's ability to help pinpoint the sides and center of the stud per the readout on the screen, this helped me to be more sure of its accuracy. There is a metal scan mode and an AC scan mode to help make sure the studs you are scanning are safe to drill into, and the AC scan mode has a lightning bolt-shaped indicator that lights up even in other modes to alert you to live wires. In summary, as someone who is still building a toolbox for simple projects with the wife, I would recommend this stud finder should you find yourself in need.

Excellent Purchase, No Regrets
I wanted to update my old stud finder sine the one I had is over 15 years old and constantly gives me issues. Ordered this with Amazon prime and received it within 48 hours. Pit the battery in it (as it comes with one) and it works extremely well. Better graphics, intuitive easy to use buttons and vastly improved accuracy over my old one. It’s awesome to be able to find the center of the stud before drilling. Foe the price it is very accurate and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone!

Mixed results
The product is well made and works....well...sort of. I calibrated it and tested against a number of spots and it finds the stud...well almost. Sometimes it is dead on and other times it is off by 1/2 to 3/4 inch. It is close and it is better than other units I have tried. I still have to drill really small pilot holes to verify, and that defeats the whole purpose of this. That being said, I was able to get tasks done, despite a few extra holes, that otherwise would not have been achieved.

A bit expensive but well worth it
I own at least 2 of the cheaper most basic stud finders, the type you can find at low cost hardware stores. They do the job, but lack the ability to pinpoint exactly where the stub boundary started and where its center is. This stud finder is more expensive, but well worth it, considering that the package includes a 9V battery. It an clearly and accurately show where the stud boundary starts. It can identify metal stud and AC current carrying wire to boot! My only complain is the instruction sheet use type 9 font (!), a bit hard on my eyes. But reading the instruction is not really necessary. Usage is pretty much self evident.

Don’t hesitate to get
The Stud Center Finder, Metal and AC Live Wire Detector TH511 does what it says it will do. Easy out of the box and even comes with a 9v battery, which some others won’t do because of “safety” reasons. This one is replacing a 20 year old stud finder and works basically the same, just with better features. Though other reviews say to read the instructions, if you have previous experience with these tools then it’s just a waste of time. Put the tool against the wall, push the button and wait for it to calibrate is seconds. Then go to work. No issues on finding any of the studs I needed. I’m please with this purchase. Don’t hesitate to get this one.
