My nvr does not have the needed connection plugs. does this unit come with the needed connection plugs?

No, it comes with HD only. No mounting hardware or cable connectors.

I have a zmodo camera system, what would I need to add this hard drive for recording? Do I need a separate device for the hard drive to go into?

I'm not familiar with Zmodo's internal systen. I can tell you I needed a SATA cable for the Lorex. The power source was in the DVR; however, I needed the separate SATA cable for the data connection.
