what type of bowl should i prepare the mixture in? is a disposable plastic container ok? metal?

Henna should always be prepared in a wood, ceramic, glass, or plastic bowl, not metal (since it could tarnish the container and/or cause a reaction with the henna which will not be good for your skin). The one exception is stainless steel. You should also use a non-metal spoon for making the paste.
