Definitely a Great Toy!
I bought this toy for Christmas for my 2 kids ages 3yr old boy, & 1yr old girl. I love the fact that it will work with the plastic coins that it comes with as well as real money coins. It will tell you what each coin is for coin recognition. I know my son has started learning the differences even better since we got the toy. Plus my kids love getting to use the scanner. It doesn't have a hand-held scanner but I think this way is better because it's not connected with a cord that will eventually get bent enough to stop working. The scanner rings up new items each time it's pressed and it adds up all of the items for you. You even get to use the "credit card" that comes with the toy and it has you swipe the card and acts as if it's really approving you. It's cute and the kids like it. I also really like that it can be used for younger kids and older kids. For my little girl it's a little over her head as far as the games it has on it because they are counting type games, and being able to recognize coins and the values of the coins. But my little one loves ringing up stuff when they're playing "shopping" and the buttons are larger, nice sized for kids to press. Plus the cash register drawer is very fun for both kids to use. It opens up with just the press of the "open" button and springs open. Some of the reviews I had read said that it opens so fast that all the coins fall out and that it wasn't safe, but I really haven't had any troubles. I'd honestly rather have the drawer open up by itself than to have to pull the drawer open like some of the crappy cheap toys. It doesn't open fast enough to hurt the kids either. Overall, this product has been fun, has provided learning for both my kids, and is a very nice toy to have to play pretend shopping games. I think it's great to learn more about money too for the older kids. It will be a toy we'll have around for quite some time. Luckily it's also durable and isn't going to break for a long time. :) Hope you find this helpful and choose to buy the product.

Great for toddlers
Great Educational Toy for toddlers! *What I like -Purchased because I liked the size of the buttons and their raised profile - which I think I better for especially younger ones. -Also the various functions of the cash register such as the mini games and coin bank functions are great for learning. -It is easy to use for my toddler and though they may not engage in all the functions now, I can see it being very useful as the progress through school. -The volume is moderately loud at the lowest level. I appreciate that the volume can be increased & decreased - The cash drawer is a big hit. I noticed many reviews mentioned the money flies out due to the speed of the drawer opening, I mainly keep the money in the back compartment of the drawer for now and no issues haha *What I Would change -The option of a backlight on the display screen -The register unit be rechargeable, rather than having to replace batteries - A beeping sound when items are passed over scanner, as to replicate the register in the grocery etc Overall I’m happy I purchased this and looking forward to playing ‘supermarket’ and the educational games with my little one for the next few years.

This one's worth it
Unfortunately, I wasted a little bit (or more) of money this holiday season. I'm glad to say that this particular toy was absolutely NOT a waste. I had the older model for my older kids, but got rid of that one when they outgrew it. Remembering how much they enjoyed playing with it (we even used it for our garage sale), I bought this one for my youngest daughter, who is four. This is an excellent cash register! It comes with a lot of play money and provides hours of learning fun. Really, my daughter just loves playing store, scanning items, using her "Kroger Card" and the credit card. She enjoys hearing the machine say "Credit Approved" (or declined!), and she loves putting the coins in the coin slot and having the register recognize which coin it was. This cash register has many more features than the older one (which I truly liked), and that adds to the play value, I suppose, especially for a younger child. There are some simple math games on this one, too, but the games are really geared to kids just a bit older than 4. However, my daughter has only had this for 2 days and she has already started to grasp some money concepts that she didn't have before. We've gone over coin values and she's undertanding that the paper money has different values, as well-- although we really haven't begun to go over that. And, interestingly enough, she's asked about some of the figures on the bills and the coins. She's especially interested in Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln. This is a great toy. And, as I mentioned before, it really does work as a cash register, as well. So, you can use it for simple sales such as garage sales, lemonade stands, etc.

Good for play and learning
This has been a wonderful learning toy for my kid. Can be used just as a toy or turn to game modes for more learning focus. My only complaint (which is kind of silly, because it’s still a great toy and my kid could care less) is that there aren’t enough slots in the drawer for each denomination of bills.

This is an awesome little cash register sturdy good quality and does what it says.. My little one loves it he is 4 and there is still a lot of play left in it since he is not able to use all the functions fully yet. The reason I gave it 4 starts was because when I read the reviews and description I didn't see anywhere that this cash register is American! Money is in dollars and the lady talks in dollars and dimes and nickels and that is so confusing for us :-( wish I had remembered to check that instead of assuming it's sold in UK it must be in pounds!

A very solidly designed and constructed toy that works a lot like a real cash register. Neat little additions like a coupon card or a bank card add to the depth and realism of the gameplay. Voice over says aloud the amount of dollars for goods and counts along as change is put into the coin slot. Makes a pleasant "cha-ching" sound when the drawer is opened. A great toy for teaching kids about money and the purchase of goods and an essential addition to any imaginative "play store". Very much worth the purchase!
