It's pretty obvious that this tool is not really intended for just beards. This is a truly great product and I only wish it had come to market sooner because I would have loved to have this for the last 10 years. As modern men we are often made to feel like the all natural look is unhygienic or unattractive. I personally don't care most of the time, but sometimes I want to do something extra to make a good "first impression", celebrate a special occasion, or just change things up down there I'm always faced with the question of how to go about doing that safely. I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say, I've had my share of bad experiences in the name of vanity. So here's my breakdown: Pros: + The electric trimmer end - having this double ended makes so much sense. It's great being able to eliminate the bulk after some time has passed, but even better is the fact that it has a built in adjustable height guard that works. No one likes being nicked and I really felt I had nothing to worry about even at the lowest setting. + The Razor end - The razor end has an optimal amount of pivot for the typically hard to get spots. It's slightly more pivot than I'm used to with regular razors, and it seems to have a little more give which I felt was appropriate for under arms and private areas. + 5 blades - This is my first 5 blade razor (honestly never even tried 4), but from what I know about shaving/ physics having more blades spreads the force across more points which seems to me like less potential for snagging on skin. Let me tell you, it feels different and to me it felt safer. I probably wouldn't use it on my face because I want a little more force per blade there as my beard hairs are more coarse and thicker, but for body hair removal I doubt I'll ever go back to anything less. It had been a long time since I used a razor for this purpose, but the most amazing thing was that even when I broke the skin a couple times I didn't even feel it! It literally just felt as if I were scratching with a finger and hair was coming off with ease - even totally dry with no shaving cream. + The ergonomics - HECK YES. This is just the right shape and size and weight considering you're using it for body hair. In the past trying to use facial razors was always annoying because they are so skinny. The added width really makes it feel more substantial and give you a better sense of control. + Price - TOTALLY WORTH IT! I mean seriously, I paid about $10. That's less than a decent normal razor costs with out the added electric trimmer. On top of that the razors blade is replaceable and it comes with a replaceable energizer lithium AAA battery and not some dinky off-brand. Honestly I thought it must be too good to be true at this price, but no way, it's definitely worth at least twice what they are charging considering the competition. Cons: - The Trimmer - the trimmer is not heavy duty by any means, so I could imagine it having trouble with really thick hair. You could possibly buzz your head with this, but it might feel like it's tugging on hairs so I'd stick to it's intended purpose if I were you. - The Razor - Here's the trade off for having 5 blades - like I said earlier the force applied is spread over more points so you tend to have to go over the same area a bit more as it doesn't always catch every hair. That said I don't find this to truly be a problem for my purposes because the added comfort, confidence, and safety are more than worth a little extra time shaving. I also usually somehow miss a spot or two anyway, so I plan on going back over everything in a day or so anyway so it makes very little difference to me, but I figure it's worth noting since your hair/ experience maybe be different than mine. So that's it. I'm quite pleased with this item. It was ready to go and extremely easy to use after installing the battery (just twist at the middle to open it up and then slide the negative end of the battery in the side that has the spring). Hopefully this helps inform your purchase a bit. In the past I haven't done many reviews, but I really felt like this product deserved it.

It's a great razor ... better than the Gillettes. The blades last a lot longer and they're a lot cheaper than the Gillettes!

I thought i would give these a try over the Gillette skin guard razors to see the difference. And the Gillette does not pull at all while these Schick ones do. Disappointed!

Schick, the best a (Wo)man can get! Way back when I was in High School, my mom would get me the girly razor brands. I remember cutting myself almost every time, because the blades were dull & it just wasn't constructed well. I'd have to go over and over the same area, and push down to get a clean, close (as much as possible anyhow) shave. However, as many of you know, once you get to college, no matter how many hours you work, you NEVER seem to have enough money. This led me to the Razor section at Meijer (a regional store like Wal-Mart, but they've been around here longer, their prices are better, and they treat their employees SO much better [my brother worked there]) looking at the refill cartridges for the women's razor was SO expensive, so I had 2 choices, a men's bundle-a razor with 4 extra cartridges, for almost HALF the cost of just a few women's cartridges, OR those lovely plastic disposables, that are akin to using a cheese grater on your legs! Thus began my relationship with Schick! Men's razors are made to be used on the most delicate & most visible place, his face, so they are constructed with more elasticity, (I'm not sure how to convey my next point, so I'll put it in terms that I hope will make sense:) where the razor head meets the cartridge, men's razors- and this Schick model is an EXCELLENT example- they've built it to be similar to the shock absorbers on your vehicle, the cartridge is able to move up & down, and tilt, so in addition to the wonderful moisturizing strip (Gillette's is good, but having tried MANY different styles, both Gillette AND Schick, I've found that THIS particular model has the best moisturizing strip & it lasts the longest,) the razor just glides across your skin like skis on fresh new snow! Every year I purchase one of these bundles, & it usually lasts the entire year. If you take care of your blades, they can last a long time! Don't store your razor IN the shower, that leads to rust, and not only will that decrease the life of the blade by making it dull, but you don't want to have to get a tetanus shot and stitches! Every few swipes, tap the side of the razor to try to shake loose any impacted hair, and when you're done, clean it out really good, (I find that a toothpick or q-tip work well,) for the same reason as above, if you leave those wet hairs all crammed in there, you're building a rust farm. I'm always happy with my bundle, but this year, with the sensitive skin & moisturizing components, this is the best razor I've ever had!
