Portable SSD 1TB, up to 520MB/s read speed

This SSD is pretty amazing. I had the previous generation 500GB Sandisk version, which is surprisingly twice as big. So this drive is half as small AND twice the capacity HALF the weight. This drive is tiny and light. So what prompted me to write a review is this experience. I have found that when using Android file transfer on my aging MBP 2013 to clear my phone device memory ie. photos and video clips from phone to hard drive this is normally a very slow and tricky process. Only upon introducing an SSD, the aforementioned 500gb drive, did the process become easier to manage and I did not experience the app crashing every other attempt. In fact before my process was to copy the files in batches no bigger than 500mb at a time. You can just imagine how long it will take to copy 55.89 GB at this rate!! It is a real pain. Virtually impossible without an SSD. On to the AMAZING part of my review. Well I have just copied 55.89GB of data from my Android phone TO this SSD drive in ONE drag and drop and taking just 30 to 35 or so minutes to complete. The data rate was phenomenal, the numbers and megabytes were absolutely crazy, running almost akin PER SECOND to the rate at which Jeff Bezos makes £££ on this website. I can only imagine how useful this will be when I start editing 4k video or something that needs this level of performance. I am likely to buy another drive very soon! No regrets for me.

First the good points. It actually lives up to all that SanDisk claims of it. It is super fast. So far it has been very reliable. It is much smaller than I was expecting, but that is a good thing it isn't a bulky normal-sized SSD, this makes it so very easy to carry with you, It ALMOST fits in my wallet. It is also USB C, rather than the traditional SSD weird USB, making it much more compatible I use it it on my iMac, MacBook, Windows 11 and my Linux server with absolute ease. I love it. HOWEVER: It has one major flaw, it has no activity light, so it is very difficult to tell if you have plugged in properly and, much more importantly, when it has actually been fully ejected. If SanDisk ever does another version of this I hope they include an activity light (and make it small enough to fit in my wallet); then it will be perfect. Despite this, I recommend this SSD

I use this SSD with my Xbox One X to store my games. It makes the games stored on it load much faster than those installed on the Xbox's internal hard drive. It also reduces stuttering on some games. It's small and light so you can just stick it in your pocket and carry it around with you. It even has a small loop on the top so that you can attach it things like the a C-Clamp. I would highly recommend this drive both for gaming consoles and for general use PCs. **Note: If you use a drive to store Xbox console games, you cannot use it with a PC until the drive is reformatted, which will delete everything on the drive. This is also the case vice versa. This is just how Xbox consoles work and it is not the fault of SanDisk.**

It is an amazing item to have on your backpack at all time, very thin, small, compact and works just fine. The only this is that I had the "older" model, the actual is not old is a different product called extreme and I would recommend the model Extreme better just because it come with an USB-C/USB-C cable and this one comes with USB-C/USB-A cable that does not fit a MacBook and the Extreme model is more resistant. Overall a good product!

This portable SSD is tiny and lightweight. Can easily be slipped in a pocket or bag/rucksack, has fast transfer speeds (no longer the fastest, but still a huge leap from portable hard drives, and has no moving parts making it very rugged and durable. It has a USB C port and comes with a USB C to USB A cable. This allows transfer of data from a compatible diving at over 500MB/s which in my case means I can quickly offload photos from SD cards to my iPad and then from my iPad to this device for safe storage until I can get back to my computer. It is fast enough also to use as plug in storage on your computer, as files can be quickly accessed - I even edit photos stored on this with no noticeable delay in speed.

Bought this SanDisk 1Tb SSD to store all my lossless music files to stream to my hifi via USB. It's perfect for the job, being compact and silent in operation, and good value too. It also seems robust, so if I needed an SSD to use as portable storage with a laptop, I would happily use it.
