FIVE AND HALF YEAR UPDATE: Yes, I still have this chair and use it daily for many hours. Here's how it's held up. I haven't had any more parts replaced since the last update. I still say it's the best office chair of I've ever owned. It's certainly still in use longer than any office chair I've owned. The arms just will not stay tight. I find my self re-tightening them at least once a week, and even tight they still wobble a bit. That is probably the most annoying thing though. The leather in the bottom and back has held up great. No cracks or tears. Even on the arm rests has held up pretty well but starting to crack right on the edges. Honestly, if this chair had memory foam in the bottom I'd probably keep it another 5 years. I'd say overall I've more than gotten my moneys worth. I'll keep it around, but I'm in the mood for a new chair. I'll see what Serta has these days first. COMING UP ON TWO YEARS: I still say it's the best office chair I've owned so far, but the mechanical assembly again is going to need to be replaced under warranty. It's wobbly again, and pops very loudly every time you sit in it like it's about to break at any time. This will be the second mechanical replacement under warranty, we'll see if it goes as smooth as the first one. I also have a hard time still keeping the screws that hold the arms on tight. I tighten them at least every week if not more often. It's still comfortable however and so far is lasting longer than any office chair I've owned, and I've had many. UPDATE: I forgot to come back and update on the issue. Manufacturer replaced the mechanical assembly AND chair seat under warranty no questions asked! Bumping back to 5 stars. Gas pressure lift still working just fine. Since I have discovered they make wheels for office chairs that use the same wheels as inline skates. They are all over Amazon and I HIGHLY recommend ordering some, they are relatively cheap! I'll never own another office chair without putting those wheels on them. So much better than the plastic casters all office chairs come with and great if you have a hard floor! ONE YEAR UPDATE: 09/04/16: Original review below. I'm dropping a star pending finding out if I can get warranty honored. Just like every other office chair I've owned, the mechanical mechanism gets "loose" for lack of a better way to describe it, so it wobbles from side to side, and this chair has done that too. I posted originally hoping that the gas mechanism would hold up long term, and so far it has, but I've got to contact them about getting a warranty replacement for the mechanical assembly. Depending on how that goes, I may be back dropping more stars. Also, the chair cushion has flattened out quite a bit and not near as comfy as it was when I got it. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm a big guy, 6" 2' and about 290#. I have gone through a lot of chairs from the office box stores over the last 10 years. Even bought the big and tall versions they offered. They ALL failed. So much so I started buying the extended warranties offered just to get an exchange replacement in store. 90% of the time it's the hydraulic lift that fails. If it's not that, it's the mechanical part underneath getting wobbly. Padding never holds up. Based on the reviews here I bought this one, and yes its a lot more expensive, most expensive office chair I've ever bought, and it was totally worth it so far. Obviously I don't know about longevity yet, but it's the most comfortable chair I've ever had by several magnitudes. Assembling it, it was apparent the construction was heavier duty than any I've owned before, including the big and tall ones commonly found in the box stores. Make no mistake this is a heavy chair, you'll likely need help assembling it. It feels good and solid and comfy. My significant other is tall but skinny, only 120# and she even loves it so much she's thinking about getting one. We both work on our computers and spend a great deal of time sitting in these chairs, so you can't underestimate the value of a good, comfy, sturdy chair. There is one negative about it. I can't keep the arm bolts tight. I've found I'm having to retighten them nearly every day. I'm going to get some locktite on them and that should take care of it, they might consider including a little sample tube with the chair to put on those during assembly. But the chair is so nice otherwise I'm not even going to take away a star for that one.

This review is after 3 days of use. Generally I'm satisfied with this chair. This chair is a solid 3.5 star chair. Assembly took strength and close attention to the instructions but was overall pretty easy and took exactly 1hr from delivery to assembly. The arms do wobble but not a huge deal. Seat cushion has a seam that causes some minor discomfort in the thighs but other pluses such as lumbar support and overall sturdiness make up for that. Leather tends to warm up after extended use. Not recommended for extensive daily use. But perfect for occasional work/lounging. If you are looking for a chair you'll be sitting in 8hr a day what are you doing on Amazon in the first place? Get off your butt and test out a few chairs at the store and make sure it's perfect in every way!

Very comfortable chair. I'm 5F9 and I found the headrest cushion is a little low, kinda annoying on the shoulders, but I got used to it, not a dealbreaker.

I've given this chair a good long run and now I'm writing my review after a year. I purchased the chair for $456, the most I've ever spent on an office chair. My first impressions were disappointment that everything is plastic. The armrests and the base are plastic! The chair has no adjustments, no lumbar, seat forward-backward, or tilt. You get height lever and a reclining lock. Chairs in this price range typically have many adjustments to accommodate different shapes, heights, and widths of people, this does not. The overall appearance of the chair proper was nice, it looked to be a leather chair with lots of cushioning and a "Serta" brand name tied to the design would lead one to believe it would be comfortable. Yes, it's comfortable, but leather it is not. I have purchased inexpensive genuine leather chairs from Costco, this chair is what they term "PU leather", which is a disingenuous name for fabric covered in a thin layer of plastic that has a leather grain molded into it. The plastic is coming off at the seams where you experience the most wear. The height of the chair is low and the stroke of the gas spring is short, which means that at full height the armrests are at about 28.5 inches from the floor. Typical office desk height is 29 inches, so the armrests are barely high enough to support your arms while typing. When assembling the chair I had to chase one of the 8mm threads because the insert nut was not threaded all the way through. A normal consumer would have returned the chair, and maybe I should have, but I needed a chair and pressed on. Later I found that the lower bolt on the other armrest was continually coming loose, even though they supply a thread locking compound on the bolts. I kept having to tighten the bolt when the armrest became loose because it was just tightening against plastic. The bolt finally "reached bottom" of the counterbored plastic hole in the armrest and I was finally able to secure it with some additional thread locking compound (this was the 3rd time I had the bolt out to remedy the looseness). I feel like all of the "money" was spent on the Serta name and "mattress comfort" aspect of the chair, none was spent on materials. I really feel bamboozled at purchasing such an expensive chair, especially since I was replacing a 10yo Office Depot "Maverick" chair which only retails for $269.
