Camus is a favorite of mine so take my review with a grain of salt; with that being said, this is truly an awe inspiring amalgamation of eclectic information. There is no ideology, philosophy, religious belief, or metaphysical perspective that is necessary to be beholden to prior to delving in. Approach this essay with nothing except an open mind, and a set of ears willing to listen.Although the times of the guillotine have since passed, the concept of capital punishment is challenged through the firm grounding of reason and facts based on precedent. In a double edged manner, the harrowing information that is so useful in analyzing the validity of the argument are available solely due to the bevy of individuals who were split from this life at the platform of the razor. By using personal experience as well as the first hand accounts of the sentenced, the executioners, the observers, and perhaps most telling, the written summaries of clergymen. Albeit short and easy to read, I warn that it may cause queasiness- I do not recommend a heavy meal before reading.
