used these to hang a thick drape across the door to conserve heat. these are deep enough and wide enough to just put a heavy curtain rod into them. the curtain can move enough not to come down and they are thick enough not to ben or break like has happened with the usual curtain rod hangers in the past. this may not be a problem at your house, but we have a lot of flingers, jerkers and slammers here from the very young who do not really know any better up to the definitely should know betters. I think these may hold up for a long time!!! and they look very nice. my son installed them about 2 inches above the door frame opening and about 2 inches outside the opening. this is a basement door so the opening is approximately 8 inches deep. the cold or hot outside stays inside the door space.
