This is an absolutely stellar product. The picture quality is phenomenal. The onboard speaker system is surprisingly robust. The auto-focus feature works flawlessly. The system is extremely portable and fast to set up. I've used this for client presentations in a conference room, at client meetings I've had outdoors during COVID (even looks decent in daylight), and we've used it for family movie night as well. Performed great in all settings. My biggest word of advice, however, is DON'T CHEAP OUT ON THE SCREEN. You're paying a decent chunk of change for the projector, so make sure you're getting a "4K screen" to match. I've tried this using a low-quality outdoor screen setup and the quality drops off when using outside during the daytime.

This product exceeded my expectations for the price. The image is bright. clear and vivid. And while I do not use the soundbar, its is excellent for what it is. Could 100% be a standalone replacement TV. Only downside I see on this is the distance it needs to be from the wall for a large picture. I have a 120" screen and had to pull it away from the wall by two and a half feet.

I'll lead with the pros because my overall impression is positive. At the price I paid, the X1000-4K is an incredible value. For casual movie watchers, it never ceases to amaze. Mine setup on a lift-top occasional table and projects an image roughly the size of a 65-70" television in the "down" position. In the "up" position, it projects an image over 100". Since it's an LED projector, I don't deal with any laser whine and only have minimal fan noise. I've yet to purchase a subwoofer and have just been using the built-in Harman/Kardon soundbar. I've contemplated adding a couple Apple HomePods since I'm already in the Apple ecosystem. I currently use an Apple TV4K as my primary streaming device. The biggest negative I'm going to mention in this review is probably specific to my device. That is, I think mine may be defective. Despite ensuring it's running the latest firmware, has adequate airflow, etc., it sometimes randomly power cycles. This occurs 2-3 times a week with no rhyme or reason. The weirdest part is that it usually occurs within just seconds after the unit is fully powered and loaded for the first time that day. I haven't tried to file a warranty claim because I fear the process will be unnecessarily complicated and lengthy. I also can't replicate the problem with any sort of regularity, so I don't want to go through the process of sending the unit in only to be told the problem couldn't be replicated. The other negative is the OS. It's extremely clunky with an almost unusable app store. I would strongly prefer a "dumb" version of this projector since I'm using a streaming device anyway.

Picture is great and is very bright. So no complaints there. My issue is the build quality of thing. It's made of fairly cheap plastic. Since mine is mounted on the ceiling, I don't expect for it to see much abuse in the upcoming years. But I kind of expect the plastic to become brittle in that time as well. Also, the dials that control the horizontal and vertical shift are VERY fragile. I ended up breaking the horizontal knob. Speaking of shifting capability ... the horizontal shift range is pretty limited. One of the main reasons why I got this projector (besides price) is the shifting feature, which should make ceiling mounting a lot easier. I wasn't as attentive when mounting the projector on my ceiling as I normally would've been, figuring I could just shift the image into the correct position. Unfortunately, the horizontal shift range ended up being too small. My final image ended up being a hair too far to the right, and that's with the shift dial turned all the way to left (hence why it's now broken ... I tried to get it go even further to the left). I suppose for a 4k projector with such stunning image at this price point, you can expect for some corners to be cut. Viewsonic obviously spent most of the production budget on making it produce the best image possible. I didn't make use of the smart features nor do I use it's built-in speaker, so I can't comment on that. Also, this thing is huge. My last projector (that this one replaced) is tiny in comparison. The size is probably so it's built-in speaker can have some bass to it.

Purchased on 1st August 2020. 1. 98% of the Apps are Non US based Apps(and those apps says not available in your region), except Amazon prime video and Netflix, 2. YouTube comes with different versions like Main, Pro, Alt and etc. This has an additional problem. If you install Main and Alt, I lose video (picture won't be seen). 2a. When watching YouTube, and if you try to check for other videos by mouse down (you generally see a list (grid) of other videos for you to select) the main video will go blank and gives only audio. 3. It takes 30-45 seconds to open YouTube. 4. You can't cast YouTube , YouTube will crash 5. You can't text in Amazon prime video movie search. The Amazon app will crash. 6. When you mirror your android phone and if you open xfinity stream, the device is not supported. 7. Plex app is just for trailers (whereas a web page gives complete resources) 8. Looks like a very old version of system software. I updated and it says I am up to date 9. Technically, I really couldn't see the benefit of having Smartness in this projector. No App works even good forget about saying great. 12. I dont see some of the apps like Disney+, Xfinity and other most viewed apps. 11. Overall from a Smart TV perspective like running Apps, cast, mirror, installing new apps, definitely disappointed by 100% 12. There is a lag from Xbox games. My 13yr and 18yr old kids connected back to the TV. They were so excited that they will be enjoying on 120" screen. If someone can answer and help resolving or a solution to this, it really helps. Where to start with this one! I ordered this around the holidays, knowing we would have travel coming up and I have gone back and forth on a 4K Projector. I took a shot on this model, and I am in love. The resolution on this this is outstanding, 4K and I can bring it with me? I can use it in my basement on my screen, or bring it out to the garage to watch football on Sundays with my friends, cant wait to do movie nights this summer. I also noticed I could pair my phone up to the Bluetooth speaker and play my podcasts when I am in the garage messing around. If you are in the market for a high end portable projector, this is the one to go with!

Purchased this during the holidays and it’s been great so far. Videos are sharp and smooth when using Netflix. My DirecTV box is not 4K but the screen looks like it is. I’m just projecting it on a bare wall currently and it already looks good. Can’t wait to receive the 120” projector screen I ordered and I bet it will be awesome! The built-in Harman-Kardon audio is very clear and will be enough for most of the shows and movies I watch. Since it is portable, I can bring it to my buddy’s house on SuperBowl Sunday.

If you're looking for a ceiling-mounted projector, this one is an excellent choice. The picture quality is outstanding for the price, and the lamp life of 30,000 hours is unparalleled. You can easily use a Google Chromecast plugged into the projector or a receiver to stream apps without any issues. As long as the size and weight are not a concern for you, this projector stands out as a top option in its class, in my opinion.
