The opening fits a 5/16" hex bit. Although you might need to use a hex bit/Allen-key to loosen the crank cap, you should only tighten it finger tight.

It does not depend on the bike, it depends on the type of transmission. For your case (shimano 105) it works for you. I use it in shimano 105 too
