Does it require the lutron hub or can i use the samsung smartthings hub instead?

Your question is clear, but because some folks might not understand what they're asking, I'll cover all the bases. 1) NO third party hub - not even SmartThings - can talk "directly" to Lutron Switches... you need the Lutron hub first, and then you can have "something else" (SmartThings, etc) talk to the Lutron hub. 2) Someone else said you need the Lutron hub for "wireless", but I would clarify that the wireless remotes DO work without any hub at all. 3) The switches and their remotes function perfectly as dumb switches, without any hub at all (while this may seem obvious to some, it is a common question). Because the Caseta switches work so well as dumb switches, you could buy the switches FIRST and get the hub later (if you're considering the "Lutron Maestro" line because of the Caseta cost, this approach may be for you because at least you will have the OPTION later.... a Caseta switch is only ~$20 more than a Maestro and the Maestro is a dead-end technology-wise).
