This thing paid for itself first time I used it I could not figure for the life of me why I was not getting a good connection after changing out all my cables to cat 6 two or three of them were not working properly due to a cut wire right by the termination. I was ready to replace the whole wire thing it was somewhere else but when I bent The wire and hit test it showed that it worked and passed and then I've been to the game and it failed. Totally worth the money

We had an Ethernet wall plate with two Ethernet jacks relocated to a different place on the wall. Subsequently, we noticed that one Jack did not work at all, and the second one had really poor performance. With this Klein Ethernet wiring tester (the Jr. version) we identified the wiring pairs (3) that were not making connection and re-punched down the wires. We are back up and running. This Klein Ethernet tester was simple to use and solved our problem. It is well engineered/designed, and It felt sturdy like a quality product. What is the reason for one less than 5 stars? Well, it is a minor thing, but did cause some a little concern. When the unit arrived at the house, it was sealed in one of those packages that requires destroying the package to get the unit out. The unit and its packaging appeared as a new, off-the-shelf item. The first step in using the tester is to pull out a small tab to “activate” the batteries (2X AAA). The tester did not turn on. I opened up the battery compartment and noticed one of the batteries was installed backwards (the battery + end was up against the spring). I reversed he battery, closed the battery compartment and all worked perfectly from there. Was this the result of a returned unit or an assembly issue? Either scenario deserves one less star…

I knew some of my CAT 6 ethernet cables had been wired incorrectly, but I did not know what the exact issue was. I ordered this tool and a crimping set and taught myself relatively quickly that there is an order to the color coded wiring, the RJ45 connector needed to be connected a specific way, and I solved 15+ bad connections in an evening. This tool allows you to see if a wired ethernet connection is correct, if not it gives you a "fail" message and includes the numbered order of the wires, allowing you to see exactly how it was wired wrong. I thought the tool was fairly expensive, but considering it saved me a call to an electrician, I would consider it worth it. And now I have a new skill. Good investment and great product that worked as it should right out of the annoying blister plastic wrapping.

This tester is reminant of the original LANScaper which is no longer made. If the cable being built / tested does not require a protocol and certification, then this is the best item to have. My crew has 6 of these in service right now.

Test muy completo y con capacidad de sestear tiradas de hasta 80M en Cat6 y 60M en cat5e. Tiene todo lo necesario para la comprobación del cable y el correcto funcionamiento. Indica si existe un fallo de contacto en alguno de los terminados o si se ha colado más de un hilo por 1 solo conducto,también informa de hilos cruzados o de una cable con diferente estándar por lado ( tipo crossover) sin olvidaste de la comodidad de comprobar desde una sola hubicacion el testing status del cada cable en cuestión. Buena herramienta electrónica,ahora esperemos q siga siendo fiable por años.
