Raine Horizontal Knife Sheath

Perfect size for the leatherman Wave and seems decent quality.

I was looking for a replacement for the OEM knife case and found this sheath. It is very well put together and is actually stronger than the original. The crossing Velcro straps that secure it to the belt are a bit thicker than the original loops but do allow it to adjust to the size of belt you have. The advantage of the horizontal design is that it allows you to sit comfortably without the knife poking into your hip. Recommended.

It fits my Wave (with a clip) perfectly, with no space for stuff like bit kit or anything else. I like it because of horizontal orientation, the fact that I can actually tighten the belt loops to my belt so that not only the tool is secure but there's also no wobble on my belt. The sheath does not add bulk, being essentially a single sheet of nylon around the tool. I also like that it has no metal parts itself like clips or snaps so when I plan to go through metal detectors I can just leave the Wave and I don't have to remove the sheath from my belt. It has no side loops for extenders or flashlights but I am ok with that. Velcro holds ok after a year of occasional use.

I bought this cross draw sheath to hold a Leatherman Juice XE6 and it fits that multi-tool perfectly in all three dimensions. It also holds a Spyderco Delica nicely as well. The sheath’s interior dimension is around 1” x 1” x 3 3/4”. A longer knife or flashlight could be inserted and I wouldn’t exceed 5” as the velcro closure wouldn’t provide enough latching. The sheath is well constructed and fits my 1 1/2” wide belt perfectly. The belt loops can be adjusted to fit up to a 2” wide belt, and I wouldn’t push it beyond that. The ability to adjust the belt loops to secure the sheath to the belt is great and allows the sheath to ride snug against the body providing stability without bouncing around awkwardly. The velcro belt loops also provide the ability to remove or attach the sheath without taking off your belt. The velcro closure feels secure, is easy to open, and provides some adjustability along its length. All stitches are single stitched, and the longer closure velcro is cross stitched. This sheath is replacing my original Leatherman nylon sheath that came with the Juice and I prefer this sheath because of how snug it is. I wear this sheath on a 1 1/2” nylon belt and the nylon to nylon contact is slippery allowing it to slide on the belt easily. This could be taken as either an advantage or disadvantage depending on your use case. However, I would prefer some sort of a non slip silicone surface on the belt loop side of the sheath. This is an easy modification to make and I am only suggesting this to improve this sheath. I have only tested this sheath with my knife on a nylon belt for a about a month now and I love it. The sheath could also be easily removed from the belt and placed in a vertical position on a 2” wide backpack strap. I have not tested it with a flashlight, but I am sure it would work great as long as its dimensions are not exceeded. I am giving this sheath four stars. I am picky about my gear so to hit five stars, this sheath would need double stitching, color options, and a non slip surface on its belt facing side. I hope Raine will take these suggestions into consideration.

This is the third different pouch I have ordered. This is the only one that suits my needs. Not bulky, easy to attach to my belt and easy to access my knife. The other 2 pouches did not allow easy access, when trying to get the knife out the pouch came too. I will have to see how it does for durability but for the price this proved much better than it's more expensive predecessors.
