I tried this as using a smoker requiring power wasn't working for me, too much rainy weather. I have used it to smoke cheddar cheese a couple of times now, just fill the tube with pellets and light it. After a couple of minutes burning, blow the flame out and it's ready for smoking. So far, so good, it's burned all the way down each time. Easy enough to clean as well, low tech definitely has it's place

Works great, a full tube is about 4hrs of smoke. I fill them with wood pellets.
