Encore Syberia Collector's Edition 1 & 2

Mystみたいなゲームが無性にしたくなって購入。 日本語版は高いと思ったので、ろくに英語も喋れないのにこちらの英語版にしました。（後で調べたらMicroid本社からさらに安くダウンロードできるのでちょっと後悔してます。） で、プレイ後の感想ですが・・・ 【シベリア'1】 ・バラディレーンは英語だけで何とか乗り切ったものの、2つ目の町バロクシュタットでは会話についていけず、ついに日本語化パッチ（ネット上の無料のもの）を適用。以後快適にプレイできました。 ・評判の高いラストシーンは確かに泣けます。 ・アンナの日記が結構長くて骨でしたｗ。（日本語パッチが適用されるのは会話とメニューだけです。） 【シベリア'2】 ・こちらは日本語化パッチを初めから導入。そしたらメインメニューから真っ黒画面になってしまい使えませんでした。仕方ないので元に戻してプレイ。でも、次の理由から英語でも大丈夫でした。 ・'1のように会話中に最重要の手掛かりがあるという場面がない（多分）。あっても、会話は'1に比べると短めなので重要なポイントは押さえられる。 ・どこかのレビューに「聞き取りやすい英語」とあったが、砕けた表現がけっこうあって私には邪魔だった。（out of juiceって何だよ！） ・探検家（修道僧）の旅行記が出てくるが、アンナの日記ほど長くないのでそれほど気にならない。 ・音楽がよかった！ゲームのENDロールを最期まで見たなんてことは初めて。やっぱり最期は感動モノです。（宮崎アニメの久石譲風で、InonZurという人が音楽を担当したみたいです。） ゲームの全体的な評価で★を一つ減らしたのは、'1の駅長の件と'2の釣り場の件がどうにも許せなかったから。（あれは理不尽だよ。）それにMystみたいな主観視点でないのも不満だったかな。固定画面なので見たいところが見えませんでした。すごくきれいなグラフィックだけに残念です。 また、商品の郵送ですが、私の頼んだ業者はメール便で送ってきました。

This virtual reality (in third person) is my only experience with such detail, but just the way I prefer; ordinary activity; moment to moment, moving Kate, in every environment, mostly only as relates to game activity (incidental only implied), though you might wander to places not necessary. These environments are great pictures even when made compatible to fit 3840 x 2160 monitor screen (using windows 10, AMD A8...R5)) but with little environmental movement (in regular play) except for flying birds, rippling rivers and automatic movements of other characters and objects ). There are also sounds like birds, rain, waterways, game objects and conversation; along with "cut scenes" animations, enough to feel like you are there, like a book (there is reading), though always working; The music is sometimes annoying, I couldn't make this without the walkthrough, but it's more fun when you can. Poor Kate is constantly walking, and running with double-click, even bustling with life when standing still. This game can get tedious, especially some conversations. Sometimes adult content but less than a soap opera. Interesting. I was surprised to find there is more to the game; after completing part 1, Syberia (I) has parts 1 - 5. One movement I haven't seen explained is using inventory item, after grabbing to left bottom screen, is to click open circle spyglass at used object. In loading game it stops, showing sound files or programs as incompatible; I clicked ignore and have no problem. DirectPlay was necessary to download or enable to run games that predate 2008 in Windows 10.

Good delivery. Great to have this very playable and collectible game in DVD format rather than just a file download. Great Benoit Sokal artwork.

WORKS WITH WINDOWS 10! I love this game. I have played it myself (too many times), bought a copy for my nephews, recommend it to all and sundry and am holding out hope that Syberia 3 is still coming, despite a dearth of updates and chatter over the last several months. (I'm talking to you, Benoit Sokal). I bought this particular DVD in 2008 and recently updated my OS to Windows 10 (from Windows 7). I held my breath and opened my previously installed Syberia games. A tiny window popped up. My heart skipped a beat. The window said my software needed Direct software (I assume this is the Win 10 version of Direct X). I installed it, et voila, my heart resumed its regular rhythm. The game loaded with no problems whatsoever. All my saved games were there. The cutscenes were as beautiful as ever and still impressive more than 10 years on. The only "issue" is that the game no longer takes up the entire screen - although that might just be a settings issue. I have my resolution set at 1920 x 1080 and won't change it for this game. So have at it all newcomers (and old hands!) to this classic. epic game! I hope you get as much pleasure from it as I have.

It came with the code already used, so impossible to download. So it had to be second hand wich was unexpected. I didn't return it because I'd never returned anything before. Now that I know how to, it's too late.
