Did the job well

Working great and as intended. Filing the burrs off of aluminum. I'm just using it without a handle and I think it's fine. I'd definitely recommend gloves when doing this, and perhaps eye protection as well. The aluminum shavings will get ... everywhere. Do it outside or over a garbage etc. Or both. I researched some ways of cleaning these...the bes method is taking a piece of wood (in a wedge/door stop shape typically), or even brass or copper. If using brass or copper you want a flat end, like a credit card side. You take your chosen medium and push it with the lines of the file, so that you will create/cut little micro 'teeth' in your wood/copper. After a couple passes, the teeth will push out all of the aluminum filings stuck inside. It's beautiful. I feel the wood would be the least potentially damaging.

I am building a light aircraft and do a lot of aluminum shaping by hand. Having used a lot of standard files I was skeptical, but these files absolutely do not pin up (or clog), regardless of how much aluminum you remove. They look too aggressive and can remove a lot of material if required, but used the right way, they leave a smooth finish that requires little additional finishing. This is the largest of 3 that I bought, and is the one I use the most. A word of advice, don't throw files in a drawer, hang them up or rack them so that they don't bash against each other, or they will quickly lose their edges.

I got the 10" version, it's perfect for trimming the burs off sawed angle aluminum. It's really sharp and has the right spacing for not getting hung up when you put some pressure on your cut. one full stroke takes probably .5 mm off of a corner, and the aluminum doesn't gum up in the teeth. The price is right, just mark it or segregate it so you or someone else doesn't try to use it on steel.

A non-clogging and smooth cutting file, I never knew that a mill file made especially for aluminum would make such an amazing difference... the results made me ask myself, "why in the heck did I wait so long to finally get one of these?"

Love the work this file can produce

File works well for rough shaping raw aluminum castings. Wish it had a safe edge. Otherwise it would be 5 stars.

Worked exactly as needed to file aluminum foot pegs for motorcycle. Very impressed for the price. Use chalk or oil to keep groves from filling up with filings. Wire brush to clean it.

It managed to remove several mm of a solid block of aluminium in half an hour. Comparing the performance of this file to that of a standard iron file on the same block of aluminium is like comparing slicing a tomato with a brand new ceramic knife vs cutting it with a spoon.
