Works as advertised
This device receives an IR signal from your current remote control and retransmits it to an out-of-range-or-site device. I bought this because I have a BOSE Wave radio that I bought several years ago. It has great sound and I have enjoyed using it over the years. However, about a year ago, it stopped responding to the remote. Unfortunately, it does not have buttons for direct control - everything happens with the remote. I accidently found that if I positioned the Bose remote directly at the front panel, it would respond to commands. I determined the problem to be 1 of 2 possibilities - either the remote control was weak, or the Bose IR receiver was weak. Of course, I installed a fresh new battery in the remote, but nothing changed. I purchased a new remote control, but it was no better. I concluded that the IR receiver within the unit was defective, but I couldn't find a replacement. I was disappointed that my Bose radio was no longer usable. Then, I came across this IR range extender and decided to give it a try. I installed the small IR emitter right next to the IR receiver on the radio and now eveyrything works as it should. The range extender brought the Bose radio back to life.

It works well, if you plan ahead your equipment
This product works fine. I have the receiver in one room where I have speakers, and the emitter as well as the stereo receiver, is in another room. The length of the cable is the primary reason why I chose this IR receiver. There are two stickers - one to mount the receiver and another to mount the emitter on your stereo (or whatever piece of equipment is accessed with an IR remote). It works reliably. For sure. The main beef people have with this product is that the USB plug that powers the cable is connected via a Y adapter that is approximately one foot from the emitter. The branching point cannot be adjusted, so your USB power source has to be very close to your emitter. Alternatively, you need to buy a USB extension cable. In my case, my stereo is plugged into (and sits on top of) a rack system surge processor that has USB outlets. This makes it convenient. But, if you don't have a nearby powered USB plug, the short length of the cable (from the branch) will be an issue. Pay attention to the figures and the distances mentioned. Beyond this, the receiver-emitter works like a charm.

Almost made it 24 hours
Worked well for almost a full day. Then started working only sporadically. Then stopped completely. Got almost a day out of it. Now its in the trash...

It works, no instructions provided and it all on a single cable, so no 2 room solutions.
Good stuff: It works well on my Dish receiver and controller. Its easy to install, after you guess how it works, as there were no instructions. You get a single cable with a USB connector and the sending unit (small unit) that I put in front of my Dish receiver, and on the other end is a ir receiver (Big unit) that after turning it so the flat side was against the wall, it worked. There is a USB connector for power, about 6 inches from the small unit. Unit is only good for one room operations as its one single cable.. Bad stuff: The usb power plug is only 6 inches from the sending unit, so no way it wrap's around a TV receiver from the USB port provided on my dish receiver. It needs to be at least 2 feet away to get around a TV receiver, as my USB plug was only on the back side. So you need a USB plug, and I had to get a extension cord, to get it working. No Instructions at all. No sticky tape to mount either sender or receiver. Its all on one cable, so now I have a black cable poking out of my storage unit for the Dish Receiver.

Perfect for PTZ cameras!
Got this to help control a PTZ camera that sits atop a mast, way out of line of sight for the IR remote control. This thing works beautifully! The transmitter piece and USB connection are the perfect length to reach the front of the camera and the rear USB input for power. Perfect!
