The belt at first use is super stiff and tends to untie a lot during training. Hopefully it loosens up when it breaks in. The quality seems to be good, but time will tell if it lasts. Oh yeah, size up. I'm an size A3, but after reading other reviews. I got a size A4. I'm definitely glad I did.

I love that this is thicker than the cheapo belts that come with your standard gi. Those belts are the same cheap belt that come with karate gis, which I am used to. However, the gi-to-belt thickness ratio that is all thrown off and made me uncomfortable when I started to wear a BJJ gi. This Sanabul belt is much nicer and feels higher quality. It is not, like some reviewers said, too thick to tie or as thick as the collar of a gi jacket. The only improvement I would make is a matter of personal taste- I wish the logo wasn't red and black. I'm a monotone kind of girl and would prefer the details of the label be white or match the colors of the belt.

So I ordered an A4 sized belt, and the length is fine, if maybe a tad too long. However, my main grief is that it is quite narrow - feels like a normal dress bet. Feels a bit weird tbh! Washing it for the first time, and its come out look pretty mangled, bobbled quite a bit and lost some of its length. Guess its not preshrunk cotton...
