good but not what I was expecting
I expected an honest breakdown. I got that kudos for not overselling hype. However she admits a lot of her success was coding backend which amazon can mess up anytime

So timely!
“DIGITAL RETIREMENT..” is the most timely and beneficial book I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a very long time. With all the uncertainty in the world at this very moment this book has successfully walked me thru ALL the steps one would need in preparing for the inevitable retirement day. The level of specificity the author writes about has allowed me to take real stock of my future retirement life. Every step of the way through this book all the questions I haven’t even thought about that applies to my life has been answered or has been touched upon. Speaking for just myself this has been a huge stress reliever knowing that there is a potential blueprint on how I want to successfully navigate my own’s future. Everyone has their own path to take but this book is the absolute perfect guide in knowing there is a way to confront their future retirement with discipline and no fear. Every chapter has glistening nuggets of knowledge that I definitely can apply in my life. This book will be something I will return to on a daily and weekly basis.

Good short read
This was a good short read covering a simple but powerful strategy to take control of your income. If you’re looking for a magic bullet or a get rich scheme look elsewhere. Instead this is a simple, common sense plan to spend the next year or two building digital assets that passively cover the expenses of many (maybe even most) people who currently works their fingers to the bone and have very little to show for it. For those with loftier ambitions this is an excellent base to build on without risking too much.

A challenge for the slide rule generation
The first part went really well with great suggestions for the actual creation of a book -- the prep-work, research, pillars, memory joggers, narrowing the focus, etc. I especially liked the chapter: "How Not to Write a Crappy Book." Where I got lost was in the eventual marketing of the book, which you have to kind of keep in mind from the very inception of the volume. I became hopelessly entangled in the maze of exercises needed to get the book in front of people -- Book Launches, worshiping at the altar of the Almighty Amazon Algorithm, maneuvering one's way onto Best-Seller lists. It seems the very concept/definition of "best-seller" has a different meaning in the digital arena. Then, of course, there are expenses involved -- essentially putting together a team of super heroes (who actually get this stuff) to edit, format, promote, and design covers. To snatch an old biblical trope: "The laborer is worthy of his hire," I will concede this is essential. But for a senior citizen on a fixed income in a world of rising fuel, rent, and food costs, this might prove a bit of a strain. To summarize -- my long suit is creation. I will wade back through the material, though, in hopes of a light coming on along the journey. Perhaps the Universe will provide a partner to balance the equation. One hopes. Certainly the premise of the book is a sound one: Short books sell and are easier to write. Hey, it got me to buy the book!

A Great Catalyst Toward Retiring as an Author
Michelle gives great actionable advice on how to work your way toward a digital retirement. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme but rather, a plan that can realistically help you obtain a residual income that you can retire on with a little effort and consistency. This book has really had some significant impact on me as I have been finally motivated to write that book I’ve always wanted to write. I’ve started writing it and soon, with the Digital Retirement system spelled out in this book, I hope it will be the first of many to bring a residual income that will eventually break me free from the chains of working for someone else and, instead, allow me to enjoy a life of freedom and self-sufficiency. Thanks Michelle for this short but very impactful book!

A book on writing your way into retirement
I love Michelle Kulp! All of her books are inspiring for would-be writers like myself and provide step by step instructions for getting started. The title is a little deceiving, though. This book is about retiring early, but it also contains a lot of the same information as her other books on the “Book A Month” method. All useful information, of course.

Many of us are now approaching retirement, and we do not all have much money saved. We need to look at alternatives. As this book says, retirement is not all about saving money or social security it can be done through additional cash flow. As an adult educator nearing retirement, I am amazed by the number of people that I encounter that are my age who have literally zero computer skills, I am surprised because the TRS80 came out when I was in elementary school and computer classes were common by the time I got to high school. I am teaching these people basic computer skills now, but it amazes me that many 50-year-olds don't even know how to minimize a window on a PC. If you have minimal or no money saved, you need to learn these digital skills now, or retirement will be a pretty miserable existence. I also believe that anybody can learn this stuff, my former students are perfect examples, some never touched a PC or even attended any kind of formal education in the last 30-40 years, and now they can function at intermediate levels in MS office suite, and from there they can move on into any number of creator economy activities. While this book does not address the most basic computer skills, it does outline a path to residual income through writing, and this can be one of many ways that I think any Gen-X that has limited computer skills, and limited savings must explore.

Michelle has written dozens of books, all if which are the same theme repeated with a jazzy title. Looks like take one idea, which is sell books, and wash, rinse and repeat with a new title and cover. Then tell people you are making thousands, which I am sure she is, but from one message. Can you write books? Absolutely. Will they make money? As an experienced author, i can tell you, some will, many books won't. And those that do will have a shelf life of popularity. It is not 28 books and done. Just be realistic before you quit your job for instant riches.
