Large Breed Dog With Arthritis Benefits From High Quality Raised Bed.
Great made in the USA product that reflects thoughtful design and is well made of high quality materials. While this isn't one if the cheapest options out there, I would place a serious wager that my Kuranda will still be in use and holding up like a champ down the road compared to any and all "better deal"/discount options that really are only a cheap plastic/nylon raised bed that will sag and eventually break...destined to end up in the trash or recycling. I like saving money just as much as the next person, but going with the cheaper option is not saving anything in this case. We have a dog with arthritis and I fully believe his joints and spine have benefitted from the raised level of this bed. Being a large breed and wanting to provide him with the space to stretch out, we got the XL size. This bed supports him very well and isn't hard on his joints like a cement floor. Our dog wasn't all that comfortable with the slick material, but it makes it easy to clean. We added a 2"-thick firm foam therapy bed and he jumps right on and happily settles down. We use our Kuranda all-aluminum beds indoors so we haven't tested it with outdoor conditions. I do have a concern that in the hot sun, the metal would burn our dog or us if we tried handling it and moving it. I have no doubt that the high quality of the Kuranda would hold up better to the elements compared to other similar products out there, but hot metal may be something you would have to think about for outdoor use. Now the bad news. This bed does not come assembled. You will have to put it together. It is also good to know that you will need TIME to put this together. Do not make any plans to have dinner with the in-laws or your boss unless you want to be late because putting this together will most likely take you more time than you thought or planned. This may sound daunting, but I wanted to give fair warning. It is still doable. It is not impossible like some reviewers have said. It certainly isn't so confounding that I would knock it down from 5 stars. Using a little - go easy...a little goes a long way - WD-40 on the *joints* may help with a stubborn connector should you run into difficulties. But, that is the *ONLY* place I would think of using WD-40. Some may think it would come in handy to help slide the material in place, but that probably isn't so smart in the long run without knowing how WD-40 would effect the make-up of your material over time and in the elements. More importantly, you want the material to stay in place and not slip out from the channel/groove that you slide the material into. Because of that danger alone, just rely on muscle to slide the material in place. Sliding the material in place - four sides - is really what takes the most time and effort. It takes TIME and patience, but makes sense. You want this part to stay in place once it is put together. In addition to time and patience, you will need a screwdriver as well. This certainly isn't something that you can snap together, but it also won't snap apart or give way under your beloved animal either. Once you get it put together, taking it apart is probably not on your bucket list. In the end, though, you will have a reliable raised bed that will hold up to your pet's use. I love our Kuranda all-aluminum beds. We bought a second one after being impressed by the high quality of the first Kuranda bed and the comfort of our dog.

Quality kennel bed
Arrived quickly & undamaged. Simple instructions and hand tools to assemble. I used a #2 Phillips and a 7/16 nut-driver. Its reasonably H/D item appears to be able to hold considerable weight and withstand abuse. Also, lightweight so a dog could easily move it around unless secured. I believe I will secure mine to the wall of the kennel with SS band clamps, but H/D cable ties would also work. As for assembly: it will require some hand strength and possibly a clamp for the last leg as the bed draws tight and you need to fit the nuts/bolts. I was able to do it by hand, but it took a few minutes to hold in place then align everything. Do not tighten down until all four corners are finger tight. I did have to use a soft mallet to tap in the last two legs as their fit was V-tight. Be sure bed sits level before you put the leg screws in. They warn about using a driver for the screws, but I needed one for the last two legs as they are threading their own way into plastic inserts. One final assembly suggestion. Do it on a workbench or table of some kind as opposed to the floor. Much easier to sit and spin the bed from corner to corner and fit the legs on a table. Suggestion if MFG. reads these comments. The SS nuts/washers/bolts used in the corner assembly work V-well. Then when it comes to the legs you switch to sheet metal screws into plastic threads? How about four more Bolts/nuts/washers through the legs? There is more than enough room. You have a good design, continue it through the legs and illuminate the sheet metal screws into plastic. JMHO. If you incorporate this idea, I expect a free bed.

Sturdy!
The installation instructions from the site were clear and easy to follow. The product is very sturdy. My puppy loves licking it and has tried to chew it several times without any damage. Now, to get him to sleep on top of it, instead of under it! It's very easy to clean and looks very appealing.

Best dog bed ever
This is my 4th Kuranda bed. I just absolutely love them. Durable - off the floor - no edge for my chewers to chew on. In the winter i put blankets on top for extra warmth. They are durable, easy to keep clean and they hold up. All my dogs love their beds. A bit tough to put together but so worth it

Probably the toughest bed out there
I use these for my kennels outdoors. I have German Shepherds. I have tried others and they invariably after a while get torn. This one does not because it is made from vinyl and not fabric. It is not the most comfy, but then that is not the point. What good is comfy if it gets wrecked. Because they are vinyl they are very easy to clean and easy to dry of rain gets on them. The only downside is that they do not come assembled. It is not all that hard to assemble them but, and I own four of them, the pieces do not always fit perfectly, that is to say, the legs wobble a bit. Dogs down seem to mind and the wobble does not come close to having the beds tip in any way. All in all, probably the best dog bed you can buy for a big dog, especially if you are going to use it outdoors.

Awesome dog bed, as described, goes together relatively easy. Bought the XL 40 oz vinyl aluminum. Thought my adult gsd would need some coaxing to use, but she stepped on and has used without urging ever since. She is older and arthritic, and appears comfortable while on the bed. I'll have to get another one for my gsd pup. from my perspective, love how light bed is to move (no more dragging a heavy foam bed around) and how easy to clean since german shepherds are also aka german shedders LOL

Our Saintberdoodle is 90 lbs and lays on this outside in the shade. We had owned for a while now and it has held up well. No issues. Would recommend to anyone. If I could offer one improvement it would be small perforations to the surface to allow air circulation.

Well made solid bed! Unfortunately, my dog prefers his old foam bed and will only lie on the kuranda if I tell him to. It's odd because he slept on this type of bed before we adopted him. I have ordered a pad for it hoping my dog will like it better.

Fantastic bed, fast shipping. Exactly as described. I found the legs a little long for putting this in the crate and Kuranda had sent me shorter legs also for no charge. Wonderful customer service. Will buy again if needed for other pets. Also, our dog is a lab chewer and chewed through about 8 beds and blankets prior to this even with all the recommended training, giving chew toys etc. I went with the aluminum frame being stronger than pvc. We've had this for a month so far and he enjoys it and it's a third of what we have paid for in beds he's destroyed. Try it!
