Q: Somebody used this with 1/8" paracord? somebody wrote it will not pass through

Worked fine for me - you can't push it through. I have used larger than 1/8" even.

Q: What are the little coupons cut out of the bottoms of the holes for? Can't be to add grip, else they'd be on the top.

There's a spring there that is pushing up the plastic button inside, which fixes the cord and stops it from sliding. You need to push the button down, pull through the cord, and then release. The larger coupons allow for thicker cords to be used with the barrel. Hope this helps.

If your shoelaces are not too large in diameter do this:Squeeze the button and hold the button. Then feed one lace though each side. When you let go of the button it will hold the lace tight.I would suggest putting a simple knot in each of the end pf the lace so that the lace does not slip back through the knob.

Sounds like you didn’t hold the button down while threading. I had this problem until I started searching the internet for instructions.
