It lasted me 12 years
I had one and it lasted a solid 12 years. It has been passed down from generation to generation. Even during my messy divorce, me and my ex-wife had a big fight about who gets to keep it, luckily, the judge ruled in my favor and I have given it a very loving home. Unfortunately, after a long battle with illness, the scale buildup finally did its number. On Friday the 7th of July 2023, it finally passed, causing a short circuit. It was given a proper burial in its loving memory. Now, I am expecting to adopt another, to give it a loving home and in hopes it will last me just as long.

It’s an ok cheap iron but the cord is far too short

This is the second iron I’ve bought since moving to the UK, and I’m genuinely happy with it. My previous one was a budget option from another brand (maybe Brelil or something like that?) and it was just terrible — barely ironed anything, took forever to heat up, and felt bulky and awkward in the hand. In contrast, this Philips model is lightweight, compact, and heats up quickly. It glides effortlessly over clothes and delivers great steam, even on a basic setting. It also doesn’t take too long to cool down, which I appreciate. Despite being one of Philips’ simpler models, it performs far beyond my expectations. I got it with a discount, and it cost about the same as my previous iron — but the difference in quality is day and night. The ceramic soleplate hasn’t stuck to anything, even synthetic fabrics, and I’ve been using it with scented ironing water with no issues. The design is sleek and minimal, which I prefer over flashy colours. All in all, I’m genuinely pleased every time I use it. It simply does its job — and does it well. Highly recommend if you want a reliable, no-fuss iron at a good price.

A few things to not, the cable is really short, my previous one was at least 0.5m longer, wish I had checked. The water tank is way too small and empties rather quickly. The iron itself is actually really light, don't know if its a good thing or bad. Our previous iron was continuously getting scorched, now I don’t know if that was getting too hot because sometimes I feel like this doesn't get hot enough, I am convinced its the former. Well, in summary, its irons really well, need to continuously fill for large pile of ironing, but its really easy to iron with as its light. Only other minor criticism would be that my hand sometimes catches on the dial, but that’s a minor really. Please consider these points when buying.

I bought this to replace a basic tefal iron but it doesn’t perform like I need it to however it would be perfect for a teenager as there is less chance of burning clothes using this. I don’t feel that it gets hot enough for my cotton shirts. Also the steam button is on the right which is different to what I am used to. I can’t return it so I will probably donate to our local cadets and buy a tefal. I have the tefal steam iron with a container which is good for lots of things but I still prefer to use a normal iron for cotton shirts.
