A great family game ...
Tripoley is a great, fun game for cross-generation family times together. Our kids have been able to play starting about age 6. My 94-year old grandfather beat us all when we played at Thanksgiving because his poker memory from years back is still so good! We recently had a rousing evening with friends and neighbors playing this. It's not too hard to learn and it's not too simple to tire of. We like this specific set because the game board is very sturdy and the tray twirls to make the buy-in and pay-out easy. The game is called Tripoley because each time you deal a hand of cards, you actually play three games with those cards before you start the next hand. You buy in with poker chips (provided in the box) and all the cards are dealt. On the first game you get chips for which high value hearts are in your hand (very straightforward). In the second game, you play poker by keeping the best five cards. In the third game, you play a "lower to higher" lay down version of Michigan Rummy with all the cards. For each game, the players get chips based on their play. After the third game, all the cards are turned in, deal passes to the left, all the cards are dealt, and the three games are played again. It appears there a few versions of Tripoley available now through amazon.com ~ I'm not sure that any specific one is better than the others ... although we are partial to the ones that have the twirly board. If there were just one family game to own, this would probably be it! (sorry Monopoly, but you really do get very old after the first hour ;)

Fun game
I bought this game for my 83 year old mother-in-law. She and her friends play it at least once a week. She had insisted that when they tried to find one in the store, no one had heard of Tripoley and she couldn't find anywhere. It was easy to find on Amazon and she was absolutely thrilled. The game is good quality and timeless in the fun it brings. The large print cards are good for all players. I don't want to imply this game is only for older players, but that it can also be good for inter-generational fun.

Fun game but cheaply built
The game itself was smaller and not as thick as the old style I owned. When you put it together be careful the corners almost cracked. I gave it as a gift and they liked it but I didn't for my money.

TRIPLE the fun for card players!
Tripoly has obviously been around forever (thus the 75th Anniversary Game) and I think the reason it has lasted is that it has multiple ways to play (from simple to more complex), can include a little lighthearted gambling (making for fun competition) and can be enjoyed by a large age group. As a kid, I remember playing this with my parents and everyone of every age enjoyed it. It is just the same now that I am the Mom! I have kids ranging from 11 to 20 and adults that enjoy playing it too....from Mom to Grandma...so it still holds up as a good old-fashioned family card game. Our family loves board games and card games too and this fits in perfectly. I consider most games educational in some way, especially if they involve counting and/or strategy and this includes both. If you have ever loved playing Rummy or simple Poker and other traditional card games I think you will enjoy this extra twist!

A favorite childhood game still enjoyed as an adult.
This is one of my favorite board games from childhood. I play it as often as I can rope my family into playing. Unfortunately they are not as crazy about it as me. Their favorite is Monopoly...to each their own. I like that you can play for a set amount of time or until a certain large pot is won and enjoy the poker hand challenge. Sometimes we play nice (remind people to take their pots) and other times we play cutthroat (steal pots not claimed).

Ultra-Generic flimsy plastic board with too few chips and poor boring instructions.. Fun game but get a different set
Very cheaply made. Plastic is super flimsy and looks cheap. I bought this remembering the old tripoley board we used 20+ years ago and loved to play. I was embarrassed when I opened the package and pulled this POS out at a dinner party earlier this year.. The instructions are vague and boring compared to older version we had and it was just very unappealing to look at and play..

Tripoley Game with a Turn Table
This game is so much fun to play because you play 3 different games each hand! There are 3 phases to the game which makes it more challenging. Phase 1 is collecting chips for certain hearts that are in your hand. If you want to learn the ranking of poker hands, Phase 2 will teach you this because you lay down your best 5 cards. The best hand wins the chips in the pot. Phase 3 uses all the cards you were dealt and play rummy. The winner of this phase wins the chips in the kitty. There are chips provided. This game will give your family hours and hours of fun. My teens loved it. I would highly recommend buying this game.

GREAT FAMILY GAME
I have played this game with my family since I was a child. I just recently purchased this new board to teach my granddaughter how to play so that when we get together we have some fun family time together. I am not thrilled with the design of this particular version, the coin cups are too small and flimsy. We play with pennied not chips and the dups are not big enough to hold the coins that have a tendancy to build up in the 8-9-10- and K-Q. I really like the old fashioned mat version or the original plastic version with cups much better. The cups were deeper and more stable. I asm sure my family will still have playing the game though.
