Simple, effective, worthwhile dual-monitor device keeps tabs on temps of your fridge/freezer(s).
BOTTOM LINE: Affordable, simple way to monitor the temps in your refrigerator and/or freezers to insure that your food stays at the temps it should. Pop in batteries, set upper & lower limits and forget it. About as simple as it gets. Very happy. Well worth it for the peace of mind. 5 STARS THOUGHTS: Having just filled our large chest freezer in the basement with a half Angus beef, I thought it might be a good idea to make sure things are staying at the proper frosty temps. Our freezer is decades old while it's always just chugged along without complaint, you just never know when it might give up the ghost. That'd be a helluva lot of perfectly good food (and money) gone to waste if it ever did. We don't go down there to pull food out or check on a daily basis so, after some internet researching, this inexpensive little remote thermometer seemed like a good way to keep tabs on things. As a bonus, this unit is set up for two individual sensors/monitored readings, so I placed the other sensor in the bottom drawer freezer in our fridge in the kitchen. Now they're both being closely monitored, so hopefully we'll never have any ugly surprises! Instruction booklet was helpful, but setting was an intuitive deal. Set upper & lower limits, decide whether you want an audible alarm for each sensor (about as loud as most cooking timer alarms) and place it where it's most convenient for you. (Receiver unit has a hole to allow for mounting on a nail or screw, a pop-out foot to allow you to set it upright on a counter or widow ledge, and 4 strong magnets so you can attach it to your stove or fridge. Main receiver unit takes 2 "AAA" batteries, remote sensors take 2 "AA" each. The manufacturer recommends using lithium batteries, for longer life. I'm not sure if regular batteries would last very long sitting in the single digit temps of the freezers, so I sprang for a set of Energizer Lithium batteries - just to be on the safe side. *** I also wanted to mention that when I got mine, I couldn't get a reading from Sensor #1. I tried different batteries and whatnot, but to no avail. I contacted the vendor (AMIR) and they quickly & politely responded with several suggestions, which I tried... but still no soap. I emailed them again and they offered me a complete refund and asked if I'd be willing to take a chance and re-order. I did, and within a couple of days the replacement arrived. When I put the batteries in, I quickly discovered that the fault with that first, original unit wasn't with the remote sensor but rather the main receiver/display monitor; the readout for sensor #1 was dead. Oddly, they said I didn't have to bother returning the defective original. So now I have a second one which only displays one reading, but rather than throw it away or let it sit in a drawer I simply used the fully functional replacement unit to monitor our freezer AND fridge upstairs, and now that original unit with only one working temp is dedicated to the big downstairs freezer. Now I can keep tabs on EVERYTHING being kept chilled or frozen. Win-Win! THAT is what I call outstanding customer service!

Does the job accurately
I've owned this product for a couple of years now and just came back to order a second one. My first device was ordered because I have a freezer in the basement. The sensor in the freezer allows me piece of mind without having to walk down stairs to ensure that it's not failing. It saved me once when I didn't get the lid closed completely. The second unit is used in an unheated loft. It helps me control the environment in that room without needing to climb the stairs to turn on the portable heater. The size is great and it's it's on a table or can be attached to my refrigerator with a magnet. It's sturdy and accurate. That's why I'm buying a second one to use in other places.

Second one perfect
Initial frustration turned into complete satisfaction next day when the replacement showed up (thanks Amazon for your prompt-and free-replacement) Original order had a bad-ish sensor and all the temperatures were within few degrees(I could live with that though-would not expect a laboratory grade device for the price); however the replacement is-surprisingly!-right on point and everything is working ( not exactly as described in the manual and this is the main reason I am writing this review to save the ones reading it some big headaches and frustration) There are some misleading reviews so here is the truth: 1)When setting up the alarm(s) thresholds the screen reverts right back to the normal (Max/Min) temperature display (DOES NOT SHOW THE SET TEMPERATURES FOR ALARMS!). This is NOT malfunctioning as described in the first video review- it is just the way is designed!( if you’re going through the alarms setting process again you will see your last thresholds the way you set them up! 2)The alarms are NOT triggered right away, as described in the manual but AFTER TEN MINUTES of the temperatures continuously holding above (for the Max) or below (for the Min) the thresholds set! For me that makes sense and that’s how I expected to work (don’t want an alarm every time opening the fridge/ freezer doors). Adding one star to my review for this. 3)Second one fairly accurate (see pic);not the same for the original one ! 4)Does reset the Min/Max recorded values daily-not worth for me subtracting a star, but may be inconvenient if you plan on installing it on a remote site Finally, reading plenty of the reviews seems like an inconsistent quality so I’ll reiterate an advice (I didn’t take and kind of regret) from another reviewer: just buy a couple of sets from the very beginning and return the ones deemed as not being a keeper. By the way, since I have the two sets at the moment, I can confirm that you can have them set and working perfectly fine at the same time ( just have to be quick and careful with the sequence of pairing them up-after pairing they didn’t pick op -so far the other unit’s sensors)-and they are within few feet from one another Hope that helps future buyers or already owners who didn’t figure it out!

I bought this to monitor my 12V/DC Rv Fridge in my rv trailer parked next to my house. It's allowed me to monitor my fridge and freezer temperatures perfectly. I was able to dial my temperatures to where I need them and there's no more guess work. I highly recommend this product.

I put one sensor in the freezer in the garage and the other one in the freezer in the basement. It's amazing how it transmits through the steel walls of the freezers to my kitchen some distance away. The alarm is set to go off if the temperature exceeds my preset limit. Great peace of mind. Would be nice if the instructions warned that you need LITHIUM batteries in the sensors. Regular batteries freeze and stop working in a few hours. Otherwise GREAT!!!

Great to know to be able to adjust the fridge/freezer settings based on ambient temperature to keep the beer at the optimal temp without freezing the lettuce.
