A warbly wavy tone machine
Very cool pedal. I was looking for a chorus to add to the pedal board that wouldn't break the bank and this one was a great choice. It's a need blend of old and new with both analog and digital tech tied to a vintage/modern switch giving 3 distinct characters. The signal has a lot of play with 3 control parameters and a lot of variance on the sweep for each. It lets you dial in some really cool flavors using both of the settings. Add to that a really cool enclosure with some blue lighting all around and it's a visual standout on any board. I love this thing and it's been a lot of fun to experiment with. This whole line of pedals from Joyo are really cool and distinct and they play great while letting me stay on a budget. Good job Joyo!

Everything of a Proco RAT with an incredible price and unique features
Very good pedal, built very well, stock mode is fantastic for the classic RAT sound either, fat mode is great for anyone wanting to have a thick lead tone for like a solo. Mosfet and stock mode im still learning but don't much of a difference, gotta tweak with it more. Volume, filter, and gain are excellent in which it does everything a RAT should. I give this pedal an 8/10, I highly recommend checking out this pedal. Nice Graham Coxon,Dave Grohl,Peter Buck, latest 80s/90s classic sounds

Sounds great! But does have some minor issues.
Well, the value for the money is there. You can dial in plenty of lush sounding huge reverb or dial it back for a really nice subtle spring or plate effect, so it’s quite versatile. It immediately replaced the mini-universe (over hyped and very poorly designed) on my board and I prefer it over my vintage Holy Grail as well. All of the settings serve their intended purpose aside from the Reverse, which really just seems like a swell more than anything. The trail effect is also extremely nice. Build quality is solid, as are all the Joyo pedals in this design. Now for some minor complaints: There’s a hiss, even when the pedal is not engaged. It’s a VERY faint hiss, and barely noticeable even at higher volumes, but it is there. The worst thing about this is that the pedal is perfectly silent bypass - until you first turn the effect on and then even when you turn the effect off, the hiss will remain until the unit is entirely powered down (unplugged). The flashing of the LEDs anytime you tweak a knob is pretty annoying. The pedal expects you to save your preset anytime you want to make any tiny adjustment at all. It will not stop blinking until you do re-save it. Not an intuitive feature and really unnecessary altogether. This also means that anytime you switch to the reverb you want to use in the moment, you are going to be loading the previous preset you had saved, no matter where the knobs are set. I’m all for having presets available, but this was just a poor way to implement the feature. Anyway, it was worth the $85 and is definitely going to get plenty of use. If the above issues aren’t a deal breaker (they aren’t for me) then I’d definitely recommend it. It was this or the Joyo Atmosphere and I chose this because it seemed to be a bit of an upgrade.

yes definitely
this pedal sounds dope for its price I was surprised how good it is. Been having fun with it I use it to either add a great warm distortion sound that you don’t get with overdrive pedal. It also gives a good boost and widens the sound with the fuzz turned down. and it’s pink so yeah, it’s pretty great.

Blown Away
Five Stars for the pedal itself, and five stars for the concept of a Rat pedal. It’s well built—just like all of the other Joyo pedals I own. I don’t foresee any problems with it. All the knobs and buttons and switches function. There is no noise or hiss (other than what is to be expected when the gain is cranked up). Definitely worth the money. I don’t know that it will last for decades like some of the gnarly, beat-up rat pedals that dad rockers have been stomping on since the 90s. But I’m not buying pedals for my kids’ inheritance. As long as I can get a couple good years out of it, I’m happy. For a while I have been stacking overdrives to get a heavy distortion sound. I put off buying a rat (or this Splinter) because I figured it would be redundant and not offer anything I couldn't already dial in by stacking my Klon clone, tube creamer, and/or Timmy clone. I was wrong. Those sounds are all great and useful, but with just one click and no stacking, I get that raw, aggressive tone I have been hunting for. With the distortion low, it sounds a lot like my Klon. A few turn of the knobs and I can go from tight hair metal to chuggy doom metal to fuzzy grunge. It’s fantastic. I’ll still play around with stacking, but it’s nice to finally have a one-and-done pedal that gives me the exact sounds I want.

The Joyo King of Kings (Dual Crunch) is a dual overdrive pedal, meant to give an analog sounding distortion. It can be set for very subtle overdrive (distorts only when playing more aggressively), or full overdrive, where the lead guitar has a very beautiful violin-like tone and sustain. I like all the adjustment options that come with this pedal, so you can customize the tone just to your liking. The construction, and even the packaging, are top-notch. Seems to be low noise also.
