Perfect for small space exercise!
This is the BEST toy! My 4 month old 5 pound yorkie has a short attention span. She usually plays with a new toy for 10-15 minutes before she looses interest. The moment I unpacked this toy, she was hooked. She played with this for a solid hour last night (the only reason we quit is because MY arm was getting tired), then after a half hour break, she went right back to chasing the "mouse", and she was occupied for another full hour! It was also the first night that my puppy has slept completely thru the night! Hallelujah! It's great because I am disabled, so getting the puppy enough exercise can be a challenge. This allows me to sit in my chair in the front room and play with her, getting her the necessary excercise. I bought the small size, which is perfect for my small dog. The squeeky "mouse" at the end is great for her terrier instinct, although if you have a chewer who "rips" while they chew, it may not last too long (BUT, they send an extra one with the toy-Great!) The only negative is that there is a "loop" at the end of the rope that the toy is attached to, and it is possible for the dog to get its head caught in that loop, so pay attention before you pull the handle back to make the toy move. The rope appears to be a braided nylon, which is coated so it won't scratch the dog (or you) if it gets wrapped around a leg or arm. This is a toy we will be playing with for a long time, and is MY new favorite before bedtime toy. ADDED A WEEK LATER: Amazingly, this is still my puppy's favorite toy! I gave her the spare "mouse" to play with when mom didn't feel like it, and she broke the squeeker in it the first hour, but she still loves the toy. As for the one on the pole, she will still chase after it for an hour at a time. I let her "catch" it then chew on it for a minute, the I pull it for her to chase again (although she has gotten pretty smart and has learned to step on the cord so I can't pull it away). If she gets tired of chasing the toy, she goes after the end of the pole, so this is a multi-entertainment toy.I am totally in love with this thing! I DO have issues with their price of multiple replacement toys, but that's for another time UPDATE:So, it's almost a month later, and she is STILL playing with the toy! Although, now she chases "mouse" for a little while, then wants to chew on the rope, or the plastic tip, or the handle. She figures the handle must be fun if it's in mom's hand. I also purchased extra toys and now one of those is in her toybox. If mom doesn't want to play, I just give her the loose one and she's happy (although then I get to listen to lots of squeeking when she bites the toy). These are her favorite toys. These are great for small dogs. This is the best $20 I have spent for my dog so far! UPDATE 8 MONTH LATER-She is STILL playing with this toy! I have replaced the "mouse" (our name for the fuzzy toy) 4 times and the wrapping on the pole is a little worse for wear from her chewing on it, but she still loves this thing! My dog is now 2 weeks shy of a year old and we go out every day its not raining and she chases the toy for a good half hour. On rainy days she chases it around the front room. I have bought her 20 other toys, but this is still her favorite. She also has 2 "mice" that she plays with that are not attached to the pole, so those are popular here as well. You keep selling them, I'll keep buying them, and she'll keep chewing on them. GREAT TOY!

fun, fun, fun, and more fun
I bought this Outward Hound Tail Teaser 3 years ago. I have used it frequently with my personal dogs and the dogs in my home dog boarding / daycare business. My rat terrier (not shown) was obsessed with this toy and we had to be careful when we got it out and then had to find a way to put it away where he couldn’t find it as he would jump and scratch up doors trying to get to it in closets. It is an excellent toy for those with a good prey drive who like to chase things. It is fun for the person and great exercise for the dog. It’s a win win!!! It is a sharp and fun looking toy. The colors are cheery and bright and have not faded over the years. The handle is very comfortable and the weight is excellent! There is no wear and tear on your arm when you swing it around. The rope is strong and the two toys are very durable and catch the interest of the dogs with the squeaker, long fur, crinkle, and rattle. The attachment toys are very easy to attach and remove to wash or replace. While the attachment toys hold up a long time, I have ordered replacement toys because eventually they get yucky and ripped up if you have dogs who catch and chew or refuse to release them. It also would be good to use to train a dog to wait or stay as it can be used for a fun distraction to increase their self control as you wiggle it more and more the longer they are able to learn to ignore it until you say they can have it. It also would be a good tool to teach them leave it or drop it as you can reward their release of the toy with a treat or get them to drop the toy by enticing them with a treat. All in all it is an absolutely fabulous toy for the price! It was well worth every penny! It would make an excellent gift for the special fur babies in your life.

Best quality one I’ve found.
I’m a dog behaviorist working at a shelter, and also used these for private clients for years. I’ve tested a variety of flirt poles and this is my favorite. This one is flexible and durable, so if a dog does start tugging, it doesn’t break the stick. It’s lightweight so it’s easy to play with and your arm doesn’t get tired, like it did with heavier versions. The squeaky toy can be swapped out and washed, to make sure we aren’t spreading illness. I want to get some to send home with our more challenging dogs.

Dog LOVES this!
I've only had it a month, and so far it's holding up. I live in the desert and have a husky, so it was imperative for me to find a way for him to use his energy and brain when it's too hot to play outside for half the year. This has been a game changer. He wears himself out in about 15 minutes, chasing, pouncing, jumping, running. I do worry about how long it will last and will update this review when it finally falls apart, but so far, this has been the best toy I've found for my high energy dog. He's definitely entertained and leads me to where I store it about 3 times a day to let me know he's ready to play. Update - 2 months later Over all, with how hard my dog plays and how much it's entertained him, it's been a good investment. No toy lasts forever, but this one has proven worth the money for the amount of enjoyment and exercise my dog gets from it. After 2 months of using this twice daily for about 20 minutes at a time, the rope at the end of the pole has frayed some. I reinforced it with duct tape for now. The duck's body is probably 4 play sessions away from becoming disconnected from its head, but fortunately, they sell affordable replacements.

A MIRACLE toy for high energy dogs!
We recently adopted a high energy mixed breed working dog (border collie/aussie etc.) and have been struggling to give him enough exercise each day. I looked at this toy for about six weeks before ordering it because our little darling is a determined power chewer and can destroy "indestructible" toys in nothing flat. I'm SO glad I finally ordered it! Thanks to the Amazon community who -- once again -- helped me find a great product. We've been using this toy now for about a month and it's still in great shape -- aside from being regularly soaked in saliva! Our dog really, really, really loves this toy. My husband gave it a funny name and plays with it using a funny voice, and as soon as our dog hears the toy name or special voice, he just goes crazy with excitement! It's incredibly fun. NOTE: If you have a young energetic dog like we do, work him up gradually and be alert to safety. We recommend starting on grass or a soft carpet -- something a bit padded and with good traction. We made the mistake of playing a few times on a hard wood floor and our hyper excited young little dog landed once or twice on his back. After that he was afraid of the toy for a few days. We started again gently keeping the toy trajectory low to the ground and playing only on grass and carpet. We were also careful to avoid motions that would lead him to twist too much in the air before landing. After a few days he was back to happy hyper excitement and leaping high in the air again like a crazy little daredevil. After a month he is so skilled and coordinated that we don't worry about bad landings anymore. His eye-object-mouth coordination has improved, he is better at catching (and releasing!) frizbees and balls, and we can see him paying attention to how he lands. It has made a real difference in his coordination and balance. It's a great toy for little dog athletes-- as good a discovery as the wonderful Chuck-it Glowball. I can't say enough good things about it. And tough? No problems at all so far -- it's still in great shape. My husband has taken to using the replacement teaser toy by hand as a quick fun break indoors when he is at his computer and out dog is with him. One other tip: try using an old coat and gloves the first couple weeks if you play outside. Our dog got so excited he got a little careless with his teeth when were were taking it away from him, and he also wanted to bounce off of us at first as he lept up and down. Wonderful, wonderful toy to exhaust and entertain your dog while entertaining but not exhausting yourself!

My dog's new favorite toy
I adore this toy and my dog does too! Backstory: I've been looking for a flirt pole for my mini dachshund for a while. For a time I had been using a homemade flirt pole made from a leash with a toy tied to the end to save some money, a lot of the flirt poles on here are outrageously expensive for what they are. Needless to say it did work but it wasn't as enjoyable as it could be. I came across this flirt pole on a whim as I looked again for an affordable one. It was much cheaper than the other options so I thought "why not?" I ordered it and it came extremely quickly for a product not from Prime. It was complete and in its entirety. Actual Product: I LOVE this product! This toy is everything I was looking for and MORE. The handle is sturdy, the rope is strong, the toys are enticing (if a little bit easy to chew through, but its a lightweight stuffed animal, I'm not surprised or mad about it), and it's now my dog's favorite toy. We've had this toy for a week now and we play with it EVERY single day. The product is still holding up well (minus the stuffed toy but we just pulled out the squeaker and use the furry fabric, it also comes with an extra so when we do need to switch it out we have that option!) with no issues. Just a disclaimer: I do have a small dog (12 lbs) so I can't claim to know how it would hold up to a much larger dog, but it seems very sturdy to me. I also make sure to grab the actual rope portion when Pepper tugs, just so it doesn't potentially damage the stick part. Again, it seems sturdy enough to take it, but you can't be too careful. All in all this is a GREAT product and it's so reasonably priced for how good it is! You even get an extra toy! I can't wait to take this outside once the weather warms up!

My dog LOVES chasing this! -- yet... they DO need to make it more durable.
Dropping it from 4* down to 3*. I'm not entirely happy about just how fast that these things ending up needing to either replaced, or (not as bad I suppose) playing with without the squeaky bits -- which end up flying out after modest amounts of chewing. Yes, I've been happy with the basic product. My dog really love does playing with this! And yes, I've bought several replacements. But that's the issue that I've got, having burned through four in about two months. Durability -- Modest. Here's what you need to know: 1. It's a game of keep-away. Don't let your dog catch it and chew it for long periods of time unless you want to replace the toy within two days. 2. The handle came off. Way too easily. 3. I've gotten five to ten games worth of play from each toy. As stated above -- these toys are not durable at all -- what I've seen from durable dog todays is... they are twice as heavy and do not look nearly real as these do. True, I've scouted for another brand that's been more durable, and boy -- at least one is one that he'll chase and that will last months if not years... but something about how is goes after these things has me coming back. Updating this review, and considering buying another one or two. There'll be a search for the perfect toy. -- if they made this one more durable... it possibly would be that.

Perfect toy for an energetic puppy!
I have had this toy for about a week now and my 12 week-old puppy absolutely LOVES it! She has seemingly infinite energy, and I was having difficulty finding ways to tire her out, especially because she hadn't had all of her puppy vaccinations yet and wasn't allowed to play with other dogs (which meant no dog park, no puppy class, etc.). I saw this toy when I was browsing Amazon and decided it was worth a try. Well, as I said earlier, my puppy absolutely loves it! I move it around the floor and she chases after it running full speed. It is by far the best way I have found to entertain her and tire her out inside the apartment, and the best part is that I don't have to run around like crazy: I can just stand (or even sit) in one spot and swing the toy around. She cannot get enough of it. As I stated before, I have only had this toy for about a week, I probably should mention that my puppy is only about 3-4 pounds; however, the toy seems to be extremely durable. A larger dog might be able to do some damage to the toy itself (just as they can with any other toy), but it does come with a replacement. Also, I love how thick and sturdy the rope is. For a puppy as small as mine, the rope part can sort of double as a rope toy, because it is definitely sturdy enough for a small dog to chew on it without you having to worry about them destroying it or swallowing pieces of it. I would guess that the toy is probably durable enough to use outdoors, but I have not tried that yet. Regardless, on days when the weather isn't conducive to playing outside, this toy is a phenomenal way to entertain your dog inside and get them to burn off some energy, even if you don't have a ton of space inside your home. Overall, I truly believe this is one of the best purchases I have ever made. You and your dog can get hours and hours of fun for a very reasonable price. I have made countless purchases on Amazon over the years, and this is the first time that I have ever taken the time to write a product review, which should tell you how much my puppy and I love this product. I would highly recommend this toy for anyone who has a puppy (or an adult dog that still has lots of energy and enjoys playing with toys), especially a smaller breed (like a Havanese, which is what my puppy is). If your dog is anything like mine, you (and your dog) will be extremely pleased with your purchase.
