Good product, good value. Read directions and suggestions for use carefully.
This is such a great product. Although it is typically used for a finish on oil or acrylic art, I purchased it to put on top of, like a glaze, my unfinished tile coasters, which I had painted and stamped. Upon further review, I realized this product could withstand the cold of an iced beverage, it would not work well with heated beverages. So, I began using it as a topcoat for my handmade Christmas ornaments. Works like a charm, and a little goes a long way. I watched an artist's YouTube video to find the specific application process, and I recommend doing the same. It's super easy, but I would have completely done it the wrong way if I had not watcched the video.

Fantastic high-gloss finish and strong protection!
I recently used the Liquitex Professional High Gloss Varnish on my finished acrylic paintings and I’m highly impressed. I thinned it slightly with water to help with a smooth, even application, and it worked beautifully. Once dry, it delivers a true high-gloss finish that really enhances the depth and vibrancy of the colors—my artwork looks sharper, richer, and more polished. A great final touch that also provides lasting protection!

Great at sealing painted rocks
I use this sealer on rocks I paint and leave around town. Very easy to brush on and dries quickly. I use 3 coats on my rocks and it protects my rocks from snow, ice, rain and sun. I also love the shine it gives the rocks.

Leaves streaks
I really like this for my acrylic paintings. Leaves a nice gloss finish and is easy to apply. I knocked off one star because I can not figure out how not to leave streaks when applying… I have tried everything I can think of and can get it “pretty good” but I want streak free.

It does a beautiful job of protecting my creations and once I got the best technique down for applying it I blew through sealing
I have been searching for something to seal my acrylic pours. I have tried so many things and I keep having more and more issues. It's beyond frustrating. I have lost so many of my paintings to wonky coating issues that I was pulling my hair out in frustration. I love the way resin looks however, that's a very temperamental beast in itself. Triple thick is ok as long as it doesn't crack... which happens very easily. This bottle arrived and I followed the directions exactly. I struggled with brush strokes initially, and I am pretty sure my method is weird, however, it seems to work. (Note that I live in Hawaii so I can't order aerosol versions of anything, If it's aerosol I have to find someone that carries it locally and that is super tricky too...I would like to try this in spray version someday if I find someone carrying it. Also to note I live on the super humid side of the island so I do realize my results could be different from someone living in a much drier climate) I put a thin coat onto my painting and if its not a textured painting I can use a pallet knife to spread evenly, and since I am working with canvas that has edges that need to be sealed as well I run my finger along the edges creating a super thin layer. The entire process is done switching between pallet knife and finger. This seems to work well for sealing the canvas and preventing it from doing a funky dimples thing, that's where the entire canvas will have a smooth surface with lots of dimples throughout. I do clean my canvas very well before sealing however, I can't help thinking there is some variable I am introducing with my paint mixture I make to do the pours however, this does seem to do the trick to eliminate any dimples so the next coats can go on smoothly. What I do not know yet is 1. how this compares to the spray version of the same thing and 2. If I can use this as a base on a painting that I want to resin. If this has no problems with resin then it would be nice to do a seal coat of this on my special canvases that I want to resin. This isn't going to give you a resin look, of course, this will give you a great seal that will protect the painting from UV, won't cause yellowing and preserves the paintings texture. I am not sure how many people will find that as important as I do, but this goes on in such thin coats that I am able to preserve the paintings texture for tactile enjoyment. Oh, and cleanup was a breeze! So, I am happy, this definitely has a permanent place in my painting toolbox so to speak. Good luck, hopefully, this will help preserve your beautiful works!
