Flies indoors? Order this now. Works quick, no poisons
If flies have broken into your home, get this product! It zapped a fly within it's first 5 minutes. In less than 24 hours, I see no more flies. At the time of this writing, it's winter and cold outdoors. Flies sought refuge in my bedroom – so gross! I didn't want sticky fly paper because it's cruel and disgusting. I also didn't want poisonous bug killer in my house to protect my family, including cats and dogs. I don't like killing anything, but catch-and-release traps weren't working. So, I tried this because there's no lingering suffering – it seems to kill flies on contact, so it's a quick end to them. This zapper is quiet until it zaps a fly – then you hear a pop. I am thrilled not to see one errant fly in the house. If any more come into the house or out of hiding, I know this zapper will save the day. It's made well, so quality manufacturing and is a solid value for an attractive price.

Got flies? GET THIS!
We buy a ton of stuff from Amazon...too much stuff, lol. Because of that, I only write reviews if something sucks or if something, like in this case, exceeds my expectations. We live in Florida, and during the summer, we sometimes struggle to keep flies from getting inside. We are constantly coming in and out of several doors throughout the day. I've tried the fly traps that stink to high heaven (more on that in a moment), I've tried fly paper, and just about everything else. No dice. In near desperation, I bought this bug zapper. It took a little detective work to determine the most effective location to place this device, but once I figured that out, it started working its magic immediately. We have a propane-fired water heater in our garage next to the door leading inside. Turns out flies are attracted to the CO2 given off by the propane as it burns. They are also attracted to the odorant put in propane (called Mercaptan). This zapper is legit. I have been emptying the tray at least twice just to see the fly body count. It is definitely working, and at present, the fly problem is gone inside the house. Of course, it is zapping mosquitoes and other flying critters, too, but it is the flies we wanted dead. One thing to note - when it zaps a fly the sound is a bit startling. I can sometimes hear it inside the house. When I am in the garage and it gets one, I am still caught a little off guard by the sound. It is pretty loud. It is also oddly satisfying LOL. I will be getting a second one for our back porch near my grill as that is another fly hot spot. A note regarding those fly traps that you fill with water to attract and kill flies. We tried them several times. Here’s the thing… they will ATTRACT flies from miles around and they will trap and kill them. But they are bringing in flies that likely wouldn’t be on your property in the first place. We hung 3 of them as far from the house as possible at different locations. They quickly filled up with nasty flies but it made no difference to our inside problem. This zapper won’t attract any extra flies rather it just steadily deals with the ones you’d normally have around.

Stilll working after 8 years
Had two of them for over 8 years. They are still working. The on off rocker switches have failed just recently, but we just plug them in with the cord when we need them and they continue to ZAP everything that flies nearby. I highly recommend these essential killers of pesky bugs!

Works for the most part
I had a fly infestation during the hot summer, from flies finding their way around the balcony screen doors and come into my home to escape the heat. Since the flies were not lured by anything in particular, like trash or rotting fruit, they did not congregate in a specific place. Instead, they would continuously roam around my home, moving between the kitchen lights, balcony doors, and other windows. This bug zapper worked fairly well for this purpose, attracting the insects both during the day and evening. The zapping noise is loud enough for you to know that a something was zapped, but it wasn't annoyingly loud. Unfortunately, I found that not all insects are immediately killed. There were times when flies or other smaller insects were only temporarily stunned. They would eventually find their way out of the zapper and continue roaming my home. Sometimes, they would eventually die elsewhere, and other times, they would fly back into the zapper. Overall, I would recommend this as an acceptable solution. It's not perfect, but it mostly gets the job done. Just be on the lookout for occasional dead insects on the floor or counter top/table. Added 9/19/2024: After just over 2 years of continuous use, the UV bulbs burned out. That's nearly 18,000 hours of use, which is on the low end of what I would have expected, but not terrible

These Zappers Have Always Worked For Me
I’ve been a fan of these interior bug zappers for years. They seem to be very good at getting MOST of my flying insects.

The best Bug Zapper on the market.
I have 2 of these bug zappers and love them. Highly recommend this if you're dealing with mosquitos or small fruit flies.

Buyer Beware! Common electrical problem! Just search "smoke" in the reviews
Just bought this last month and everything was fine. Today, however, i heard a pop sound and then some buzzing that I thought was a big bug or something trapped and moving around. Went to check anyway and saw smoke coming from the right side of the unit near the power button. Immediately unplugged and turned it off! The vents up top also had this black ash residue. The bulbs and lights looked fine so for sure was something on the inside of the unit. It also smelled like melted plastic rather than fried bugs. This all seems to align with what a lot of other bad reviews have stated. Some have said it was the smell of "electrical fire" or the motherboard going out. Also, the smell of "chemicals" and "plastic" seems to be talking about the same problem as well. All have said they were lucky to be there or else it might've caught fire and done real damage to their home. With that being said, I'm giving this one star. Although it worked amazingly, it only lasted after just over a month of usage. With it also being a potential fire hazard that can't be left unattended, it's a very risky buy and not worth the trouble. They don't do as good a job but I'm leaning more towards getting those vacuum traps that attract insects and pull them downward to a sticky pad. Hopefully the components of those devices won't catch fire!
