I was very sceptical about this but worked a gem and kept my plants in pots alive in the 30+ heat south facing pots too. Cannot rave about this enough. I was only away for 4 nights and placed this in only a 2 pint milk carton filled with water. Fab stuff.

i tried both variants of watering my plant. The method from underneath going into the earth worked better than the other method and it keps my plant alive for over 4 weeks. Although it worked fine, the earth of my plant got a little white fungus as it was a bit too humid all the time for it but after a while it disappeared again. For a long holiday, can definitely recommend this to safe your plants! Just make sure yoz have enough water in the container underneath and don‘t have a to big hight difference as it says in the instructions

What a find. was able to set up a self watering system knowing the weather was going to be hot but I was unable to tend to my plants for a few days. Saved my greenhouse peppers from dehydration. Great product

This does work, water capillaries down the rope/string. Hoping it keeps my plants watered whilst I'm away

It definitely works, but after one day my plant is overflowing in water and job done. So that's not what supposed to happen. I've tried different positions but still transferring too much water in short period of time.

Works well

It is a very flexible polypropylene covered wick. The water is absorbed by the exposed wick at one end, travels inside the covering and drips out of the exposed inner wick at the other; it does not come out of the length, although the length does become slightly damp. I did not need to, but I suspect you could loop the damp cord around the base of the plant. If you need a greater discharge, expose a longer length of wick at the end(s) or use a second length of cord. If you need a lesser discharge, shorten the length of exposed wick or tie a knot in the cord ! The reservoir container can be below the level of the receiving pot but not by much. Mine is level with the top of a 3" deep plant pot and I have had no problems with it drawing water from the bottom of the reservoir to the top of the plant-pot. It will draw water up as well as across but probably not up great distances. You cannot daisy-chain these, one cord for each plant pot. A great idea to pre-soak each length before use and make a small peg hoop with wire to stop it falling out of the target pot. Certainly you would need to play with this for a day or two to get the amounts etc correct and ensure the plant pots can drain any surplus, but these are so cheap and simple in operation they simply cannot be faulted

This rope works perfectly. Its capillary action is perfect. It is strong enough for its intended use, I am using it to grow houseplants semi-hydroponically, and they are thriving I am happy to say. This does come in different sizes, and I will be buying more as my plants grow and require longer lengths and/or widths. My houseplants say they are really really happy to give this string/rope stuff their green-leafy-thumbs up, and so I am very happy to recommend and suggest to you Orimerc self watering wicks.
