Perfect for three settings
This valve is ideal if you want to have a shower head and also a handheld, and be able to use them one at a time or all at once. We purchased this to use for a zero entry shower remodel, so that we could use a handheld on a grab bar to adjust up and down for sometime using a bench or shower seat. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to purchase the same brand trim for the actual diverter, we used Deltas 17T series (with the champagne bronze finish) so that we could also control temperature and pressure from the outside diverter, and this rough in valve accommodates this. Photo shows valve installed and opening for the handheld (shower head is located on opposite wall)

Remodel 2020
The media could not be loaded. I learned so much from reading the reviews, so I’d like to add my experience from the recent bathroom remodel. From what I have learned is anything behind the wall is important b/c failing of the part will cost you lots of money, time, and headache. Therefore, the valve is very important! There’re many whole sets here that include the Diverter Rough, shower head, arm, handheld, etc for less $300 but there’re comments about leaking of the valve and diverter so I decided to build my own set!I chose MultiChoice® Universal Integrated Shower Diverter Rough Universal Inlets / Outlets - MODEL#: R22000 I found it operating smoothly. Only time will tell whether it will leak or not but I like its chance over the cheaper set! There’re different trims can go with this Diverter Rough but I chose Trinsic 17 Series Pressure Balanced Valve Trim with Integrated Volume Control and 6 Function Diverter for Three Shower Applications Model:T27959-BLAlthough I only have two shower applications the handheld shower is on the right of the valve and I like to have the dial point at the handheld shower. In my opinion, the shower arm, the showerhead, the handheld shower can be any brands b/c they are on the exterior and can be easily replaced. If they will leak in every two years the cost of replacement is still less than what local restore quoted me forFor the Showerhead, I chose the KES Rain Shower Head 8-Inch with Swivel Ball Joint Rainfall High Flow Shower System Contemporary Style SUS304 Stainless Steel Black, J203S8-BK. It works great! Water flows softly not splashingFor the handheld shower, I chose the KES Slide Bar with Handheld Shower Head Hand Shower Hose Holder Adjustable 5-Function Massaging Sprayer Matte Black, F204DG-BK+KP501B-BK. It has a different adjustment on hight and rotation, the handheld shower is high quality but the spiral hose is plastic but it doesn’t bother me it makes sense to me b/c I do not think it like some heavy hit the tileFor the shower arm, I originally order the straight arm but the plumber installed standard high but I’d like to accommodate tall person so I go with the s -shape, I chose HANEBATH Brass S Shape Shower Arm and Flange, Matte Black, also Chrome or Brushed Nickel or Oil Rubbed Bronze for Choose and it works just fine! For the connector from the wall to handheld you need shower elbow, I chose 1/2. NPT Round Wall Union in Matte Black b/c the designThe total I spent is about $560 compared to about $2000s, although I could have chosen the cheaper whole set (around $300) the choices I made is minimizing the risk of leaking behind the wall.I hope this will help those who are researching :) good luck to you all!!

Good rough-in
Just as described. Delta brand always works well, and the ingenious rough-in allows upgrades to the shower valve if wanted at a later date.

Works great to control water flow in a shower stall with main shower head and hand shower
Nothing to say really. Great water pressure, diverter works beautifully, and one piece functionality for mixing + diverting. We got the version with screwdriver stops as that is code.

Revised.
I bought this valve a couple of months ago for my basement finish project. It was just installed by the plumber and it is defective. Now, the new tile must be torn out to remove the valve to replace. Very disappointing. It also can’t be returned to Amazon.6/9/23I previously wrote a negative review of this rough-in valve. Ultimately the valve turned out to be alright. The problem was in the cartridge supplied with the Delta control face unit that covers the valve. Actually an O-ring in the main valve cartridge was broken (new from box) and would not allow the water to turned off. Resulted in a wet plumber and a bit of detective work to figure it out. Sadly, the cartridge could not be returned. Buying a new cartridge was better than tearing the rough-in valve from the wall! Be sure to check the cartridge O-rings before installing.
