They are a bit thick and feel bulky at first, especially if you are a beginner but they work amazing when you get the hang of them. Remember to have a lot of icing on the cake and hold the scraper at an angle and to barely press the scraper against the cake. You're looking for a smooth impression. Happy cake decorating!

I made my first ever scratch vanilla cake with white ermine frosting for my sister’s birthday. I wanted it to be extra special and these cake combs did the trick. I applied a lot of frosting because I was afraid the cake comb would dig up crumbs. It worked really well and they are tall enough that my 2 layer cake could be easily combed from top to bottom in one pass (a lazy susan turntable really helps). They are very sturdy and have a good weight to them. They do not flex, which is great because you want the sides to be uniform. Each comb has two different edges, giving you a lot of options. I used the flat edge to first smooth the frosting and remove any air bubbles. Then I used another comb to groove the sides. I washed it by hand and I’m storing them in a gallon bag so they are clean and ready to go. This was such an easy process and the cake looked great!
