Next Gen 227UH Folding Bowie

I was initially reluctant to order this knife, because of the many critical reviews I had read about their products on Amazon and elsewhere. Please note that I have collected knives for more than 50 years and other commercially manufactured premium brands, particularly those formerly made in New York such as Schrade, Camillus and others, just to mention a few. I would comfortably state that that this knife compares in overall quality with any of them. A knife of this quality at this price of only $21.99 is a true bargain. It is reminiscent of Schrade's U.S.A. manufacturing quality from long ago. There is no "CHINA" tang stamp, or any other country of manufacture anywhere on the knife. I would say this knife compares favorably with my Case Knife Co. specimens of the same same size, configuration and blade lengths from the 1940-1950 period. The only distinction being the blade material of the Schrade is stainless. In all other respects it is built like a true workhorse and well finished. I encourage you to take the plunge, if you receive what I did, you will be very satisfied.

I’ve had a variation of this knife through out my whole life. The sheath is solid leather, like I remember them. The grind on the blade, as good as always. Probably end up getting a couple more, unfortunately, not b/c they don’t last, to the contrary. These knives are so nice and quality, they have a tendency to “grow legs” and become companions in a new pocket.

For the price, and considering it's a Chinese knife, I wasn't expecting high quality, but this Uncle Henry folding knife actually impresses me. For one thing it has some weight to it, more than the Uncle Henry Golden Spike I purchased recently. It seems well made and sturdy. The blades are sharp and the case is very nice. My only concern is that the edges in some areas are on the sharp side. In the photos I posted I attempted to show where (I don't know the technical term for the part) the back rises up in the process of opening a blade. Those edges are sharp, enough to where I feel I could cut myself. The same with the end when the blades are closed; the metal edges are a bit rough and sharp. Beyond that, I have nothing to complain about. I don't know how this knife will hold up over time, but it seems well worth the price as it is. Much larger than I thought it would be, even after seeing photos of others holding it.

I remember the original Schrade. The quality of this double bladed schrade/Uncle Henry is below the norm in my opinion. The blade quality seems off in a way that I can only describe as cheap/poor. A almost tin like feel to it. The blades are thick and SHOULD hold up to rigorous use. When opening to the fully open position, I find myself asking if it IS open. There is no definite indication that it is "locked" open. Yes I know that this is NOT a lock back. But, I do own the other double bladed uncle Henry, and you can feel/hear the back spring "click"/"snap" when you fully open each blade. The overall construction is sound and I'm not entirely disappointed with it. I do like the heft/feel/size are looks. The sharpness is fair but not like I thought it should be. This is a very good knife for camping, hunting, and maybe some bush work. I feel that a three star rating is adequate. SgtWall USMC

I have many of the original USA made Schrade knives and have been a little hesitant to buy these Asian made variants. Well I finally bit the bullet and bought this one as an every day carry around camp. The knife arrived boxed well and warped in grease paper. The sheath that came with the knife was made of good sturdy leather and overall I would say good to very good quality. It is not quite up to the excellent quality of the USA made sheaths though but very usable none the less. Now as far as the knife is concerned I must say right up front I was pleasantly surprised. The fit and finish was excellent. The blades were very sharp straight out of the box. My only small negative is that the edges of the staglon are quite square, I would have preferred them a little more rounded off. I have given this a 4 star rating and would recommend it to anyone wanting a good quality large folding knife for use around camp.

Esta bien hecha, muy sólida y robusta. Es grande y pesada así que esta muy bien que venga con la funda para cinturón incluida. Las navajas vienen muy bien afilada. Claro que no tiene nada que ver con la calidad de las Uncle Henry hechas en Estados Unidos discontinuadas a partir de 2007pero por el precio está OK. La funda es de cuero reciclado de segunda calidad pero funciona, se delata por la consistencia del “cuero” perfecto. En resumen, vale la pena solo a precio de oferta de USD 30.00 máximo. Llegó a tiempo. Gracias Amazon.

Klassisches Doppelbackenmesser mit polierten Messingbeschlägen und Griffschalen aus Hirschhornimitat. Dazu ein Gürteletui aus Leder, dass für die Ewigkeit gemacht ist. In dieser Preisklasse ist das schon etwas besonderes. Das Verhältnis von Klingenlänge und Heftlänge ist sehr harmonisch und lässt das Messer sehr ästetisch wirken. Als Zweihandmesser ohne Verriegelung ist es zudem (fast) überall legal tragbar. Auch die Verarbeitungsqualität ist für den Preis mit top zu bewerten. Fazit: Mehr davon !
