As a Sony XM5 daily user I am impressed by this Portronics SoundDrum. I really like the sound quality + balanced base. As i am not fan of deep base, I prefer sound quality. and i much satisfied with this product and price. USB, MicroSD, USB, Bluetooth.. these all are much sufficient functionality given. I didnt expected this much good quality. Impressed by Protonic.

After using this product, i am providing honest review. Pros - 1) Good sound, bass and treble. 2) Price range is also good. Cons - 1) Battery backup issue (hardly upto hours) 2) Bluetooth connectivity is upto 7-8 meters. 3) Volume setting i.e. volume gets drop automatically when battery gets started draining. Overall good product.

Could not have asked for a better product !!! Earlier I had Portronics Soundpot which forced me to buy a portronics speaker only and I bought this one. So I bought this speaker in 2020 and I used it till 2025 with some minor repairs. For 5 years this speaker was with me from long bike rides to lonely nights and it never disappointed me. Also at one point all of my friends were also amazed with the performance and they couldn't have missed it presence because first it used to be with me all the time and second because of its performance. The sound, base, treble, vocals everything was above my expectations and due to the double speaker it gave a stereo sound. The battery life was amazing in the starting 3 years after that it declined a little bit but that was alright. Compatibility: It is compatible with every device 👍🏻 If you're planning to buy this go ahead don't think twice.

The sound quality was worth the price. Loud enough for a small friends trip, car travel, train travel, etc. not to be used at huge parties. The quality was too good. It is great if you are a simplicity lover who don't like too much of lights or party vibe. Actually I like that this speaker is not having RGB lights which would also reduce battery. It functions very well. over all a small power pack energy vibe without too much of lights but with great sound and music quality at this price

I've attached an audio sample for reference. Video is recorded with AAC codec. The speaker is playing at 50% volume while being connected to my laptop using aux mode. It got so loud while recording this that I had to move out of the room, shut the door and put on my ANC headphones :P Pros: 1. Made in India by an Indian Brand 2. GOAT Bass (has 2 bass radiators so no surprise) 3. Great audio clarity and wide frequency response range 4. BT v5.3 5. Really solid build quality 6. Looks and feels more premium than its price segment 7. Has a carrying/hanging strap 8. Great I/O ports selection 9. Supports both SBC and AAC 10. Getting almost 24 hour battery life while switching the volume level anywhere between 10 to 30% and playing various types of multimedia, takes almost 2 to 2.5 hours to charge fully when connected to 10 W adapter, the LED light at the back remains red when charging and switches off when fully charged 11. Comes with Mic (haven't used it yet) 12. Lastly, it's damn loud. I personally never use it above 10% volume (in aux mode). This also results in stellar battery life. Cons: 1. No FM Radio support 2. No TWS Pairing support 3. No official IP rating (unofficially it's splash proof due to its design) 4. No app support (like Mivi, Tribit etc) 5. Battery shown when connected via BT is 100%, 70% and 40%, after that you will get 'Battery Low' warning when it's really low. 6. Speaker reduces its loudness when the battery drops at the 40% level. What you listened at volume level 10 will now be 16-20. 7. No battery indicating LEDs like boAt Stone 352, 1208 etc. 8. When connected to my laptop (running Windows 11 and having BT v5.0), at lower volume levels volume progression is not consistent. Either volume is too low or too high (this issue is specific to Windows PC). 9. When connected to Windows via BT, it doesn't increase volume at every level (like 0/2/4/6 etc). From 0 to 4 there's no sound, 6-10 it's level 1, 12-16 it's level 2, 18-24 it's level 3 and so on. To fix this, use the speaker in aux mode and turn the speaker volume to its maximum using its + button. This will give you accurate volume controls. 10. Speaking of speaker volume controls, you have to press and hold +/- button to increase/decrease volume, as pressing them once changes tracks (this doesn't work in aux mode), so it becomes quite difficult to set the desired volume level through speaker. 11. BT range is 30 ft when there's line of sight, and 15 ft when there's obstruction in between. I bought it for ₹2099, I know it retails for lower sometimes, but my almost 5 year old boAt Rugby (10 W) started showing signs of ageing and I needed a replacement ASAP, as I use my BT speaker with my Windows laptop (for obvious reasons ;). Anyways, even at this price, it's really VFM, however wait if you can till some kind of sale arrives and you get this for a lower price. Would suggest Portronics to add FM Radio support and battery indicating LEDs to all of its SoundDrum series and above, it's really a feature that people need, not always but it's something you can count on when needed. P.S.- When keeping the speaker upright, ensure that the surface beneath it is soft and dust free, otherwise it will damage the surface of the rubberised base.

Sound wise very good. Bluetooth gets disconnected from Laptop if we don't use it for some time. Not sure whether its Lap Bluetooth issue or device issue. irritating thing is the notification sounds, when we switch on, switch off, when it gets connected, when it gets disconnected. On low battery. Its irritating. there should be a way to mute this notification sounds. midnight your Bluetooth speaker says in full volume, that your battery is low, you need to charge. It will rpeat it few time and finally it will say switch off I understand this problem is with all the bluetooth speaker. Mike in this device is very feeble, no use with that. No idea whether we need to do some setting for that

I was looking for a "practical" speaker to accompany my new PC. I was looking for the wired ones, but the quality ones were costly at the >2000 range and I was not willing to shell out that much amount. And upon that I was planning to shift my PC to my new office away from my home. So buying wired speakers was not practical. I was planning to cancel the purchase but the list of blue tooth speakers lured me again, primarily because I was listening to lot of music and YouTube videos using my mobile head phones and my ears were feeling the pain literally. The most important factor was I was listening to BBC Radio and I was looking for a replacement for the mobile headphones. I came across the name Portronics but as I was not familiar with the name, I was planning to zero in on the Sony Extra Bass speaker which looks the same like the Sound Drum. The price was almost double. I had to change my mind after one of the sales men in a leading mobile store in Cochin recommended me Portronics. I looked for the reviews both in Amazon and YouTube and all the reviews were in favor of Portronics. The Sound Drum reached me in 5 days, a bit longer than F'kart. Please note the price was around 400 bucks less than F'Kart! The Sound Drum will amaze you with its size. Less than 9.5 CM in height and around 9 CM in width. Better quality videos and sound files will need only 50% of your mobile's volume bar. As the size is small you can't expect the same quality of sound which comes from a very big sound system. Even then, if you keep the Sound Bar at the center of your hall, it will suffice the sound requirement of your entire household! It is loud enough for the entire house! (My home has 3 rooms, one medium sized hall, a medium sized dining room and a medium sized kitchen -all under 800 sq.ft). The best part is the portability of the Sound Drum when paired with your mobile phone. When I am writing this, my mobile is put on charge in the hall and I am sitting in my room. When my phone rings, I CAN ANSWER THE CALL WITHOUT RAISING FROM MY SEAT!!! All I have to do is press the Play button on the Sound Drum (the one between the + and - buttons); and I can answer the call facing the Sound Drum as it is equipped with a mic. Don't ask me how to make a call; obviously you have to go near your phone. They are providing a USB cable for charging. You can connect it to any USB mobile charger. As I have a Motorola Quick Charger, I charged the Drum for around 5 hours. Anyway the user manual is not very clear about the charging. When I contacted Portronics (chat is available on their website), the reply I got is that we can use any mobile charger. I have connected the Drum to my PC using the USB cable; I don't know whether it is good for the battery's health. I can't comment on the battery life. I haven't checked it as the Drum is always connected to the PC. Reviews say that it can last 6-7 hours. There is FM, but tuning FM is tedious. I didn't waste my time setting it up. I am using FM apps on mobile. Anyway, if you are looking for a good quality blue tooth speaker, Portronics Sound Drum is a good choice. The build quality is good. The speaker doesn't move when I put it on high volume. Make sure that the surface is not too smooth. I hope the Sound Drum will last longer. I can't predict it. This is my first time using a Portronics product. What the company offers is extra 2 months warranty, if you register on their website immediately after the purchase. My primary usage : Listening to BBC World Radio: download the BBC I Player Radio App. Listening to online FM radio: I am using All India Radio Live app. There are a lot of FM apps. Choose the best one. ------------------------------------------- Update after two weeks : you can't control volume, touching + or - on the speaker; they are meant for playback control only. You have to use your mobile or PC yo change volume. You can connect it easily with a PC via Bluetooth; if your PC doesn't have Bluetooth, buy a Bluetooth adapter. I bought one from Amazon itself which is working good. (https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B077B1L1HH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) When playing from the PC the volume seems to be low compared to when paired with mobile devices. Don't know the reason. Some apps like Amazon Prime Music gives good volume. I read a general opinion (not specific to this device) that connecting with an AUX cable will solve the problem. I haven't checked it. Anyway, not a drawback. You need to be close to the Sound Drum and in level with the mic to answer mobile calls.
