Review: Dinner planning is enjoyable with Downshiftology Healthy Meal Prep - I had seen many of Downshiftology you tubes, and enjoyed her recipes and approach to cooking meals. I saw that she had a cookbook and I am extremely pleased to have ordered it. I have made several of her recipes, which include: cilantro lime shrimp ceviche, cilantro lime shrimp with cucumber and rice, mango curry chicken, honey ginger salmon, coconut chickpea curry, etc…and I look forward to making many more! The ingredient's list is not at all complicated. And her directions are easy to follow and straight forward. None take long to make. She shares ideas of how to make several meals from the same ingredients, so that you could meal prep for the week. I have wanted to know how to add the right combination of spices for wonderful tasting meals, and she has nailed it. Curry, coconut, cumin, and ginger have been prominent in the recipes I have tried, and that is what I hoping for! This is a well written and organized cookbook. I actually look forward to making dinner again, after being so tired of planning meals.

Perfection
I own a LOT of cookbooks. And I order way more and send a lot back because I’m picky. I almost never write reviews. But I love this cookbook. It’s truly healthy (the food, the recipe combinations and. Even the advice on which containers to use to store). It’s practical (long gone are the days I get an uninterrupted hour to cook). Many of the recipes allow me to prep quickly in advance when I’m free and then assemble or reheat right after picking my kid up from daycare. The flavors are excellent and she doesn’t demonize anything. Need a bit of maple syrup to make oats appealing? It’s in the recipe. Want less sugar, reduce it. There are pictures for everything and they look very appetizing. And even better, when I make the recipes, my food looks the same which is rare given the age of instagram focused food belongs. Simply perfection!

Wonderful, Tasty, Healthy Recipes and Useful Meal Prep Info
I have been watching Downshiftology on YouTube for a few years, and the cookbook is a welcome continuation of that. The recipes are gluten-free and emphasize whole foods, rather than processed foods. Lisa is a proponent of meal prepping in batches and then combining the prepped components into different combinations throughout the week to keep it interesting. She includes information about how to select the best food from the grocery store (what to look for), different ways to prep and cook it, and different ways to use it in different dishes, as well as storage tips, so she offers a lot of versatility, in addition to traditional recipes. Although the recipes are gluten-free, they are not low carb. For example, rice, potatoes, and legumes are all naturally gluten-free but high in carbs. I follow a low-carb diet, so I simply use substitutions like riced cauliflower instead of actual rice or zucchini instead of potatoes. The recipes are all simple and easy to customize to your liking. She’s a proponent of prepping from whole foods (e.g., spiralizing her own zucchini noodles or making her own hummus), but I don’t have the time, equipment, or energy for that, and that’s Okay too. You can buy pre-spiralized zucchini noodles at many grocery stores, for example. It’s more important to remove any potential barriers to healthy eating than to try to follow everything verbatim. The pictures are beautiful and inspiring. My husband was really struck by the cover picture of a shrimp dish, so I bought the ingredients and he made it that night, which has never happened before from a cookbook. Something random is that many of the pictures have the food on a white marble counter, and I kept mistaking the spots in the marble for stains on the pages of the book, but that’s not really a critique, just something I noticed. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced cook, I think you’ll like this cookbook. Give it a try, and see how much better you feel when you eat healthy, delicious food.

An abundance of Gorgeous photos of food by my favorite YouTube chef.
I have been watching Lisa Bryan on her “Downshiftology” channel on YouTube for several years. I really appreciate the whole food ingredients and the quality. I really appreciate how she is not just concerned about excellent nutrition, but also in the presentation. She is very clear and easy to follow! It’s amazing that this book is not just a repeat of her YouTube channel. I have made many recipes from her YouTube channel and printed them off, but this book contains a lot of new recipes. I have bought several copies of these books for Friends and Family. She also has great tips about using leftovers. My favorite thing about this book is the abundance of photos. I like to know what the recipe is supposed to look like. You’ll have to excuse all my blue sticky notes in the photos. That’s how it was marking my favorite recipes.

Great book!!
I really like this book. Lots of information on meal prep. Recipes are creative yet simple to make. Many beautiful pictures on every page. Information on how to store. Many tips scattered throughout the book. My only criticism is I fine the index difficult to use. Things are not where you'd expect them to be. And there are't any double listings like you find in other cookbooks. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in fresh, healthy food.

A great addition to your cookbook collection
I follow Lisa faithfully on YouTube. The recipes in this book have helped me bring so many of her dishes to life in my own kitchen. Her recipes are reliably delicious, healthy, and easy to make. Love that the book includes tips for meal prep, as well. A great buy!

Book is delivered with visible damage on two places + dirty/dusty. It looks like the book was on the shelves for a long period not protected from the dirt/dust. Packaging for books should be better not cardboard envelope.

Lisa makes cooking gluten free meals easier and more fun! She also is great at giving many ideas about how to prepare and construct meals before hand which is what we, modern busy people, need. The book has beautiful pictures, suggestions for storage and substitutes, not to mention the nutritional value of each meal! As transparent and clear as possible, that even beginners can do magic!
