They energize with thermostat call, turn on pump, and allow burner to start ( high limit permitting), then turn everything off when tstat is satisfied. It is easy to think that these will run forever, but they do get weak over a period of years and start to act janky. Easily removed by pulling out and reinstalled by push fitting, without any tools. I had some bad wiring that caused massive relay chatter to the point they exhausted their life cycles prematurely. I fixed the wiring and then replaced the relays with these two. An effortless fix. Pulled the old relays, plugged these in and all is well. Phew!
