Literally perfect. Hand tracking in total darkness
As the title says, this enables the headset to do tracking (including hand tracking) without any visible light whatsoever. A completely dark room is bright with the light on in passthrough and suddenly you don't have to worry about how much light there is. The thing is so small and light that you can completely forget it's there. It fits in the palm of my hand. If you like it being small and light, instead of bulkier like the ones with batteries might be, I can't recommend this more.

Night vision!?
So we have a baby in the house, and I’d like to be able to play VE close by her at night, but I also don’t want to have to light up the bedroom like we are landing a plane. That’s when I started to look into ways I could VR in the dark. I came across this and it works very well. It does seem to sap some battery life, but I have the Elite headset, and don’t play longer than 2 hour sessions. I have two complaints. One, it’s not the easiest to secure to the quest 2 headset. It really needs to snap in there. Two, connecting the elite headset cable to this device doesn’t let me raise the side well to put on and take off the headset. Neither are real breakers. A bonus is that when looking through the pass through, you essentially get a pair of night vision goggles.

Works!
This is so cute and awesome. It’s tiny, but mighty. I just plug mine into my quest 2 and I don’t really ever need to take it off. I charge my quest with it in place, and use it when I need. It gives me the ability to play anywhere. Any time of day or night. No loss of tracking. Even hand tracking works in pitch black. So if you have headphones, you can play completely undetected at night. You could even play Beat Saber next to someone sleeping. ;) I highly recommend this item. It’s so tiny too.

Works perfectly for Quest 3 in the dark.
I got this so I could chill in bed without annoying my wife by keeping lighys on. Works great in a dark room. I was surprised at how accurate the tracking was. Highly recommend.

Works amazing in every scenario
Tracking is perfect even in complete darkness! I wish it turned on automatically when I turn on the headset, but a single button press is a simple extra step. I saw a lot of reviews saying the connector breaks easily, so I will be extra careful and you should too. Even at $20 which is not too expensive, I hope it lasts and will update in the future. Update: It doesn't allow the headset to maintain 70% charge. It slowly drains.

Quest 3 Adapter Needed
When I bought this, the only review mentioning Quest 3 said it didn’t work due to the connector not quite being deep enough. Knowing this, I bought the PrismXR Vega T1 low latency ear buds since the dongle is a power passthrough. This made the IR work just fine on quest 3. The Vega dongle is plugged in first, then this IR on top of that, then my external battery on the IR. Both power passthroughs work correctly and power reaches the headset, and the connector for the IR snaps on perfectly now that the Vega dongle gives it a new depth to connect. The IR def is making my hand tracking more consistent in the dark and barely uses any power at all on the high setting. Certainly recommend this product. Just be aware for Quest 3 you will need some kind of passthrough adapter to make the connector reach such as in my scenario. If you don’t want the Vega T1 buds, you can probably find something else to make it work.

This has made using the Quest so much better for me...
This has made using the Quest so much better for me. I typically use the Quest in low light conditions. While it is enough light to not get warnings, I still did not get smooth performance. I had no idea this was a lighting issue until I got this device. Now the quest can track everything in the room and the VR is liquid smooth as a result. This has also fixed hand tracking for me. Unless the Quest can easily see your hands, that feature doesn't work well at all. And there was one unexpected bonus feature... NIGHTVISION! Yeah, I'm a huge geek and I love my technology. Now when I put the Quest on pass through mode, I can walk around my house in pitch black darkness and see just fine. Considering this only cost $20, that's pretty cool! Well, at lease I think so. My daughter was not very impressed. :)

Oculus/Meta or whatever brand name the Quest 2 has this week really should have included this simple ut incredibly effective solution to enhance hand tracking day and night and improve visibility when using pass-though. With a single button operation to turn on/off and switch between two brightness levels, this little addon is a must for those wanting to get the best out of the Quest 2 hand tracking functionality. One button press and there’s no more frustrations with adjusting your head and hands into uncomfortable positions to maintain control, no more tapping over and over to tap one virtual button, no more random random weapon changes in fps games etc. Whilst room mounted IR lamps are available, they’re often far too bright, require mains power or recharging and as restrict where you can hop into VR. This little gizmo simply plugs in directly to your headset USB port, uses hardly any precious battery resource and it goes where you go and shines an invisible light where it needs to… wherever you look. It’s rare anyone gets chance to write an honest review they can say that no matter what you use your VR headset for, adding this product is a no brainer.

Working as expected, can play in the dark. Doesn't feel like is consumes much battery.

It's a must have item if you must play in complete darkness, but I'd say it is still worse than light

Totalmente recomendable. !-)
