Had a chirping smoke detector, too high to reach. Placed a "same day" order on Amazon for this grabber. This worked out perfectly! I was able to reach it, grab on tightly, jiggle it until it disengaged from the outlet, gently bring it back down to earth, and change its battery. Next time we have a handyman over, I'll ask him to hang it back up where it belongs, but at least for now there is peace and quiet again. This grabber is so light and easy to use. A great item!

I like that it has better grips at the end. The old circle screw on ones gripped well but didn't last long. I like the way the head can be turned instead of you having to twist your wrists. It's pretty strong and sturdy. I don't like that the handle doesn't lock. You have to continuously hold the handle to grip. That may be a problem for people with arthritis in their hands. I also don't like that it doesn't fold well for storage. Overall with the improvements it works well.

The reacher has worked great. I have a temporary health issue that has limited my mobility and i never realized how often I dropped something before and never thought twice about bending down and picking it up. The reacher solves the problem. It can pick up heavier items like my iiPhone or a tool and an item as delicate as my eye glasses. Very versatile. Extremely pleased.

it helps in reaching, just not as sturdy as the ones that do not disassemble. So, if you have to go to the doctors office and they make you dress yourself after they undress you, then, this is handy along with the sock aide and shoe horn. but if you use it to take your socks off all the time or grab the can of beans from the top shelf, I would get a sturdier one.

IT BROKE ! In the last 20 years of using a reacher/grabber tool, i have never, EVER had one break, until now! I don't try to lift items that are unusually heavy, but I am constantly using a reacher to lift items that have slipped to the floor from my lap. or from the front seat of my car, onto the floor of the car. I like to have tools I can count on to perform as expected, and because of my personal physical limitations, it's IMPORTANT that items will perform as well as advertised. This product has a "weak spot" where the black ring covers the joint, and it failed me when I needed it the most! Don't spend your money on a reacher with a joint! ALSO, be CAREFUL when you choose the LENGTH of a reacher/grabber. The length is extremely important, but you won't realize how important until you try to retrieve an item, and it's too far away. BUY A LONGER TOOL IF IH DOUBT! The longer ones have always been the ones I feel work best. JUST AVOID the ones with a black band around the middle of the shaft! IT'S NOT STURDY IN THE MIDDLE! DON'T BUY ONE WITH A JOINT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REACHER!!

I'm an engineer, electrical. I've done enough mechanical engineering to qualify. Simple is elegant. This design is down to the bare fundamentals. Heavy enough gauge Aluminum. Plastic which fits the purpose even if it won't work with a charcoal grill. And adequate gripping strength for normal people. The folding is a great innovation. Nothing marginal or deficient in it.

I love my reacher. Have one by my chair. In kitchen and bedroom. Works great in kitchen to bring can goods closer, in frig. Items in back up to front. Also Iam disabled so I use it in bedroom to get dressed. It's lightweight but strong. I love it.
