Fluke ST120 GFCI Socket Tester Without Beeper

I love the elegant simplicity of this socket tester - plug it in and you get a light pattern that you can match up to the table on the front of the product and diagnose the health of your circuit. It also has a nice GFCI tester to see if it pops when it is supposed to. I think this device is a potential lifesaver. When I made my video (attached) I noticed that I was getting some blinking on the lights that indicated a possible intermittent ground. I popped open the box and found that the groundwire was a little loose despite a green light on the GFCI itself. In a few seconds, I was able to identify and fix a problem I didn't even know I had!

I have an old electrical outlet tester I bought years ago but wanted one with a GFCI tester. My old one was best viewed standing directly over it when it was plugged into an outlet. This Fluke can be view from across the room with its LEDs positioned outward. It also will test your GFCI outlet, which can malfunction over time. This makes it easy to test both correct wiring and your GFCI function.

It works perfectly fine, but it was an odd choice to orient the plug the way it is. When you insert the device into a correctly installed outlet, the unit is upside down.

Bang for buck I am a novice with a curious streak, had an issue with a GFCI socket that just stopped working. Called an electrician and he wanted a decent $ to troubleshoot it, which was fair but then i saw this. Tried it and gave me the “hot/Grd rev”. Found a youtube video that showed how to read this message and when i opened the socket- found a dis-connected ground wire . Connected it back and done. Electrician cost -$120 Tool-8.99 Time- 45 mins TOTALLY WORTH IT

Bought this for my husband as a gift. You'd be surprised how often you need one of these

The product is good, but it operates on 120 volts, whereas in India we use 220 volts. It follows the US standard and is not compatible with Indian requirements, even the socket type is different.

Does what it says. This helped me see that I had a grounding problem. Nice little tester.
