What are the rated lumens for this light?

The LED is rated for a maximum output of 1040 lumens. However, in actual use, the output ranges from 300 to 800 lumens depending on the battery type (lithium, NiMH, or alkaline) and battery strength.

Is there an AA battery version of this?

This one does have the option of 3 AAA's with a carrier for those. But Gearlights if you type in the following will take you to a version that uses just double A's. However that one lacks better reviews. "GearLight M3 LED Tactical Flashlight [2 PACK] with Belt Clip," This should get you to the AA's if you copy paste it into Amaaons search engine. Amazon sometimes prevents you from adding their own URLs to a page link. Not sure why sometimes you can other times not. So I find it easier to just include the copy paste version. I've had my pair of gearlights for over two years. Initially bought for caving pack as part of my three light rule of caving. I went with this light because of the recharge battery option. Purcahsed a two chamber LED adapter charger that allowed me to insert fresh battery in flashlight, put a spare fresh charged one in pack and finally a freshly charged one in the chamber of the charger along with a power bank to charge any discharged battery while caving at the same time. I never ran out of light for this flashlight but then again I am not caving much to nill as I've begun aging out. However love these lights around the home and decided we need a couple more. In the two years we've had them I think we've recharged the batteries like 3 maybe 4 times at most. They hold their charge well. Maybe that's the brand of battery we choose but we do use one of these lights a lot as it allows us to search through our wall of Movie disks when the hall our shelves are in is rather dark so often use the flashlight even during the day as it spot lights any section we are looking at. Really addicted us to it. Meantime I would recommend like Angela Roach invest a little up front for 18650 batteries along with a charger and you'll be amazed at how great that works out in the long run saving expense of buying batteries all the time. Unfortunately to date there are still way too many items that require the ole battery duracell...Pink bunny may finally be in danger. OH WAIT I actually caught a tv add the other day showing the Energizer bunny with recharge battery pack. I kid you not. Or did I dream that. Anyway sorry Duracell and Energizer you best be jumping on these new kids soon as you are already being left in the dust.

Will i need the button top, or flat top 18650 battery for this if i decide not to use aaa batteries? only answer if you know, please.

I have several of the gearlight flashlights around for use in the garage, car, house or truck. None of them run the battery down when not in use. I bought a 8 pack of EBL 18650 3000 mah Li-ion button top batteries to use, At about $25.00 with tax. I'm not sure if flat top would work, as I don't have any. The EBL 18650 do not leak or discharge in the flashlight when stored.
