I've had good experience with Rothco products in the past - bags and such. Previous items were made in India, so I was a little disappointed that this product was made in China, but after a full season I'm happy to say it held up well. It picked up a few stains, but hopefully they will come out in the wash. Winter temperatures where I am can dip to the low teens and occasionally sub-zero. This jacket will keep you warm if you are moving, not so much if you plan on sitting around in the cold. It does a great job as a windbreaker, and I've walked around in serious snow and rain and felt well protected and remained dry even though the jacket looked soaking wet. Some people complained about the hood or the collar, but I love them both. The collar zips right up to the chin, with some extra material to block the zipper. No need for a scarf. The hood is huge - I'm guessing because this is a tactical military jacket designed to fit over a helmet, but in our tactical dog walks through the city, I've found it handy to stay warm and dry in the rain. Rolled up and packed into the collar the hood still didn't bother me - although I've never bothered folding it back up into the neck. It's big enough to serve as a travel pillow. The cut of the jacket is near perfect for me. 6 foot plus, long torso and arms. The sleeves are long and keep me covered on a bike, and the body of the jacket ends right at my waist. I was concerned about it riding up my back, but it seems to be a bit longer in the rear than the front. There are some cinch chords at the waist that do wonders to keep the wind out. As others have mentioned, despite the photo, it's not a jacket you can shove your hands into. It's cut so that your hands would go in your pants pockets. The jacket pockets are high on the chest and deep. There are also sleeve pockets on each arm, and zippered interior pockets. Plenty of storage for a jacket. Saw some reviews mentioning the under arm vents. Wearing the jacket with a t-shirt you may feel the zippers under your arms. It doesn't bother me, but it may bother some. I don't really see wearing this jacket over a t-shirt anyway. It seems better suited to being the final layer of a fall/winter outfit. I'll probably wear this jacket the next time I go skiing. Overall, for my money this was a great purchase. It served well in all kinds of weather at a fraction of the cost of some other trendier options. With spring here, it's time to throw it in the wash. I hope it survives and doesn't shrink, but if it did, at this price I'd probably grab a new one for next season.

This jacket looks good and is well made. Lots of pockets internal and external. The breast pockets clearly are made to hold a handgun with a sleeve for the barrel or a magazine. Also it has great ventilation under arms and in back. I was surprised at its complete inability to repel water. It soaks right in and the fleece liner then gets wet. Maybe some Camp Dry would fix that. The hood is rolled into the collar and is lined so it is warm and comfortable but it makes the collar bulky and you can't zip it all the way up. Also wish it had hand warmer pockets but I get that it's a tactical jacket and it's designed to allow you carry a duty rig. It's warm by itself down to about 40F and then you probably want something additional underneath.

I have worked in outdoor retail and owned softshells from Marmot, North Face, and Arc'teryx. I spent 2-3 times more on those pieces than I did on this one...for what!? NOTHING. This softshell is just as water resistant (not waterproof) and breathable (if not more so) than the best ones out there. I love all the features with pockets inside pockets, a removable hood, double zipper, and I love being able to rock a hook and loop Gonzales Flag on my right shoulder! Note that this is the exact same jacket as the Condor Tactical Softshell. Just buy yourself whichever one is cheaper. This piece does look somewhat tactical so if you aren't into that, avoid all colors except black. I have the Sierra Fleece in black and can attest that in black, it looks just like any civilian outer garment. Also important to note is that this jacket does run quite large. I'm 6'2 235 lbs and normally go for an XL. It was huge on me so I ended up returning it and getting a L. Fits perfect now.

The Jacket, Coyote XL, was nicer than I expected. The fit was exactly right. Im 5'10" at 195 if that helps. All of my shirts and jackets are XL and this fits the same way. The pockets are well done. No problems with the stitching, no leaky seams. The zippers seem smooth and solid. Its a snowy day in Montana and the jacket is warm and dry, with no wind blowing through it. Very happy with my purchase, and no, this isn't a paid review, I received a nice product that was as advertised...a rarely these days, but true nonetheless.

This is the third item I have gotten from Rothco. So far they have fulfilled all they promise. This jacket is very waterproof. I have had it for about 6 weeks and we have had a wet late winter and early spring. I wear it for work almost every day. (Construction) Unfortunately it has gotten stained with the regular oils and contaminates and is looking a little less like new. My wife likes the way I look in it so much she is encouraging me to replace my casual jacket with another. I am planning on doing that in the next month or so. I am also starting to check out Rothco first for more work gear.
