Laxmi All-Natural Brown Basmati Rice, 10 Pound Bag

I really enjoy the flavor of this rice. I had never had brown basmati before and it is a new favorite in my home. I was nervous it might be to tough but it cooks well and is nice to eat. I have used it as a stand alone side dish, a binder, a fried rice, and in soups! I really like this rice and will buy again. The packaging is standard for this product. I move it into a container for my pantry.

Rice was delicious and I was able to hold it for 4 hours in a roaster oven at lowest setting. Believe it or not it still tasted wonderful and I received many compliments. The only thing I didn't like having to soak it 2 hours as I had to cook it and have it all ready at same time. BUT maybe that's why it was so good.

We were looking for good reliable source of brown basmati. This is good quality but price increased in Feb-march to 28 then today it is normal at 22. So good quality but unreliable.

I'm basing this review on the 2-lb bag I received in error, the company's quick response to correct the mistake, and the taste and quality of the rice itself. Re the shipping mix-up, they replied quickly and courteously, immediately refunded my money and told me to keep the 2-lb. bag. I found the rice to be fresh and tasty. Thus once the little bag starts getting low, I'll be going back to them for the 10-lb. size.

I was happy to find a seller on Amazon who could restock a 10 lb. supply of brown basmati rice. My order arrived quickly & was in good condition. The shipping box, the outside burlap & the inside plastic bag all looked new, intact & clean. The rice smells like brown basmati & has a more raw, herbal smell than white basmati. Both have the same nutty & distinctive basmati fragrance. I have cooked with it (in an auto-timed rice cooker), and I am happy to report that it was as good as I expected! The texture was light & fluffy, and it combined well with other grains (i.e. farro, wild rice & short-grain brown rice). Very happy with this purchase.

The expiration date of the rice supposedly was January 2022. However, the brown basmati rice arrived in a cloth bag that was full of weevil larvae, which I noticed when they started crawling out of the bag. Very disappointing to waste my money on this rice, which is not returnable. If you are looking for quality brown rice, my advice is that you look elsewhere.

GREAT PRODUCT

This rice gives me the best of both worlds. It's fragrant and tasty as basmati and healthy as brown rice. It's a better alternative to short grain basmati rice we seen often. Their packaging could have been better. It's a pain to remove rice of the packet and it's inconvenient.
